Past Simple Tense คืออะไร?
เราจะใช้ Past Simple Tense ในการพูดถึงเรื่องในอดีต หรือเหตุการณ์ที่จบลงไปแล้วอย่างสมบูรณ์ และน้องๆ จะเจอ Tense นี้ได้บ่อยๆ เวลาที่อ่านหนังสือนิทาน หรือนิยายภาษาอังกฤษต่างๆ เราก็ใช้ Tense นี้ในการเล่าเรื่องเช่นกัน
โครงสร้างประโยคบอกเล่า
กริยาใน Past Simple จะเป็นรูปของ Past Form หรือกริยาช่องที่ 2 ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่จะเติม -ed ถ้าเป็น Verb to be ก็จะใช้ was และ were
ตัวอย่าง
I saw a movie last week.
(ฉันดูหนังเมื่อสัปดาห์ที่แล้ว)
John played football yesterday.
(จอห์นเล่นฟุตบอลเมื่อวานนี้)
He travelled to Italy last month.
(เขาไปเที่ยวอิตาลีเมื่อเดือนที่แล้ว)
โครงสร้างประโยคปฏิเสธ
เราจะใช้ did not หรือ didn’t มาช่วยและตามด้วยกริยาไม่ผัน (Infinitive)
ตัวอย่าง
I didn’t know what happened on Monday.
(ฉันไม่รู้ว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้นเมื่อวันจันทร์)
Maria didn’t arrive on time this morning.
(มาเรียไม่ได้มาถึงตรงเวลาเมื่อเช้านี้)
Jake didn’t want to play basketball.
(เจคไม่อยากเล่นฟุตบอล)
โครงสร้างประโยคคำถาม
เราจะนำ Did มาขึ้นต้นประโยค จากนั้นก็ตามด้วยส่วนประธานและกริยาส่วนที่เหลือ
ตัวอย่าง
Did you go to school yesterday?
(เมื่อวานเธอไปโรงเรียนมาหรือเปล่า?)
Did Lala join the party last weekend?
(ลาล่าได้ไปงานปาร์ตี้เมื่ออาทิตย์ก่อนหรือเปล่า?)
Did he come to your wedding?
(เขาได้มางานแต่งงานของคุณหรือเปล่า?)
ข้อควรจำ
- ใน Past Simple อาจจะมีตัวบอกเวลาหรือไม่มีก็ได้ โดยให้น้องๆ สังเกตกริยาที่เป็น Past Form (ช่องที่ 2) เป็นหลัก ตัวอย่างตัวบอกเวลาในอดีต ได้แก่ yesterday, last week, two days ago, last Friday เป็นต้น
- น้องๆ ควรมีพื้นฐานเรื่อง Regular และ Irregular Verbs มาก่อนเพราะจะทำให้ผันกริยาได้แม่นยำมากขึ้น Regular Verbs
เช่น play > played > played และ Irregular Verbs เช่น go > went > gone
- Past Simple นั้นง่ายตรงที่น้องๆ ไม่ต้องผันกริยาตามประธานเหมือนกับ Present Simple ประธานทุกตัวจะใช้กริยาช่องที่ 2 ทั้งหมด (มีแค่ was/were ที่ต้องผันตามประธาน)

👉 We use the English PAST SIMPLE TENSE for something that happened and finished in the past. We use it when we say or know the time when something happened.
👉 We use the PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE for something that happened in the past but was not finished at a particular time. This can be an exact time in the past (12 o’clock, etc.) or the time when another thing happened.
