If one haven’t been to Central Hotel then he/she has not been in Simon’s Town. The hotel boasts of rich history dating back to the 18th century and enshrined within it’s walls is the original Victorian décor. This had been maintained and preserved in most upgrades. การเดินทางนอกทวีปเอเชียครั้งแรกของรายการ Spirit of Asia เริ่มต้นที่ทวีปแอฟริกา ในประเทศแอฟริกาใต้ เมืองเคปทาวน์ อันเป็นที่ตั้งของแหลมกู๊ดโฮป หมุดหมายของการเดินเรือที่มีชื่อเสียง ที่นี่จึงเป็นเมืองที่มีประวัติศาสตร์ในฐานะจุดยุทธศาสตร์สำคัญของการเส้นทางเดินเรือและเป็นเมืองท่าสำคัญของชาวยุโรปที่มีจุดหมายไปยังดินแดนต่าง ๆ ในเอเชีย เส้นทางการค้ายุโรป – แอฟริกา เอเชีย อันรุ่งเรืองและเส้นทางแห่งการค้าทาสชาวเอเชีย และแอฟริกาต่างเริ่มต้นที่เมืองแห่งนี้ ในปัจจุบัน เคปทาวน์มีจุดเด่นในฐานะเมืองแห่งความหลากหลายทางชาติพันธุ์ที่มีรากเหง้าจากสามทวีป คือเชื้อสายยุโรป เอเชีย และคนแอฟริกาท้องถิ่น เนื่องจากเคยเป็นเมืองท่าเก่าที่ต้องต้อนรับผู้คนจากทั่วโลก
การเดินทางเพื่อสำรวจเรื่องราวภายในเคปทาวน์ได้พาเราไปกับธรรมชาติที่ยังมีความสวยงาม ภูมิทัศน์ของเมืองที่เป็นอ่าวยื่นไปในทะเล สำรวจร่องรอยชุมชนที่เคยเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของนโยบายการแบ่งแยกชาติพันธุ์โดยสีผิว ซึ่งแม้นโยบายนี้จะยกเลิกไปแล้ว แต่ก็ยังมีร่องรอยของผู้คนแอฟริกาที่ยังดิ้นรนต่อสู้ชีวิตในสภาพที่ยากลำบาก จนเป็นที่มาของโครงการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตต่างๆ ที่ผู้คนท้องถิ่นจัดขึ้นเพื่อยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตเพื่อช่วยเหลือตัวพวกเขาเอง และพบกับชุมชนของชาวเคปมาเลย์ คนแอฟริกาเชื้อสายเอเชีย ที่บรรพบุรุษของพวกเขาเดินทางอพยพมาจากดินแดนเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ในฐานะทาสของชาวตะวันตก ในช่วงที่การค้าทาสในแอฟริกาอยู่ในยุครุ่งเรือง พวกเขายังคงรักษาอัตลักษณ์วัฒนธรรมความเป็นอยู่ของชาวเอเชียซึ่งสืบทอดมาจากบรรพบุรุษ ทั้งอาหาร ความเชื่อ และวิถีชีวิตประจำวันได้อย่างดีในเมืองเคปทาวน์ ดินแดนที่มีความหลากหลายทางชาติพันธุ์แห่งทวีปแอฟริกา
