นามนับได้ (countable noun) คือ
คำนามที่นับได้ ก็คือเราสามารถนับได้จริงๆ นับเป็นชิ้นๆ อันๆ มองเห็นได้ชัดเจน เช่น apple นี่ก็เป็นนามนับได้ เพราะเราเห็นเป็นผลหนึ่งผลเลย pen ก็นับได้เพราะเราเห็นเป็นแท่งๆ
นามนับไม่ได้ (uncountable noun) คือ
คำนามที่เราไม่รู้จะนับยังไงเพราะเรามองไม่เห็นความชัดเจนจากมันเช่น water – เพราะมันเป็นของเหลว เรานับไม่ได้แน่นอน เราจะนับได้ก็ต่อเมื่อมันอยู่ในกล่องบรรจุภัณฑ์เช่น A bottle of water – นำ 1 ขวด นอกจากนั้นนามนับได้จะมีพวกนามธรรมที่เรามองไม่เห็นเช่น honesty (ความซื่อสัตย์) ที่เราไม่รู้ว่ามันหน้าตาเป็นยังไง
หากนักเรียนเข้าใจเรื่องคำนามนับได้ – ไม่ได้แล้ว ทีนี้เราก็จะมาแต่งประโยคกัน ในภาษาไทยนั้น ไม่ว่าประธานจะเป็นอะไร เราก็ใช้กริยาเหมือนกันหมดเช่น
- ฉันกิน
- เขากิน
- หล่อนกิน
เราใช้คำว่า “กิน” หมดเลยในภาษาไทย แต่!!!! มันไม่ใช่แบบนี้กับภาษาอังกฤษ ถ้าเหตุการณ์ที่เราจะพูด มันเกิดขึ้นในปัจจุบัน หรืออะไรก็ได้ที่มันเป็นความจริง เป็นนิสัย กิจวัตรต่างๆ เราจะใช้ tense ที่เรียกว่า “Present Simple Tense” ก็คือ ใส่ประธาน + กริยาช่อง 1 ไปเลย
ความงงของคนไทยคือ แล้วทำไมบางทีกริยาต้องเติม s ด้วยหล่ะ!!
คือกฏมันมีแบบนี้ครับนักเรียน ไม่ต้องเครียดไป
ก่อนจะเริ่มกันเรามาทบทวนความรู้กันหน่อย
ทบทวนความรู้
คำกริยารูป เอกพจน์ ได้แก่ is, does, has, คำกริยารูปที่ เติม s/es
คำกริยารูป พหูพจน์ ได้แก่ are, do, have, คำกริยารูปที่ ไม่ได้เติม s/es
ใน present simple tense เราจะใช้คำกริยารูปเอกพจน์ กับคำนามเอกพจน์ เช่น
- Tim walks to school every day.
และจะใช้คำกริยารูปพหูพจน์ กับคำนามพหูพจน์ เช่น
- My friends walk to school every day
ถ้าประธานมี 1 คน(เรียกว่า ประธานเอกพจน์)นะครับนักเรียน (1 คน/สิ่งเท่านั้นนะครับ) เราจะต้องเอากริยามาเติม s/ es เช่น
- Aof loves to eat Thai food. – ออฟชอบกินอาหารไทย ไม่ใช่
- Jane love to eat Thai food. ตรงนี้ผิด เพราะ love ไม่เติม s
หรือถ้าเป็น verb to be เราก็จะใช้ is/was นะครับ
หรือถ้าเป็น verb to have เราจะใช้ has นะครับ
- John is happy because he works out every day.
- Jimmy has a lot of money so he goes shopping every week.
- The baby is crying now.
- My cat has been sick for four days.
หลักการเติม s/es ก็คือ
1. เติม s หลังคำกริยาได้ทั่วๆไปเลย
- eat eats
- walk walks
- stay stays
2. ถ้าคำกริยาลงท้ายด้วย s, sh, ch, x, z และ o เราต้องเติม es หลังกริยานั้นๆ
- miss misses
- wish wishes
- watch watches
- fix fixes
- buzz buzzes
- go goes
ประเด็นคือ ให้เราฝึกฟอร์มประโยคบ่อยๆ เพราะเวลาใช้จริงๆ จะได้ไม่ลืม!
- Tom goes to school every day.
- Jack cooks dinner for his wife twice a week.
- She has to work every Sunday.

แจ็คและทอมอยากออกไปทานข้าวข้างนอกคืนนี้ - We have to study hard.
พวกเราต้องเรียนให้หนักๆ
ถ้าเป็น verb to be เราก็จะใช้ are/were นะครับ
ถ้าเป็น verb to have เราจะใช้ have นะครับ
คำที่ไม่เข้าพวกหน่อยก็คือ “I” นี่แหละครับ
“I” (ฉัน) ดูเหมือนว่าจะมีคนเดียว เอ๊ะเติม s ที่กริยาป่าวนะ?
“I” ให้ใช้กริยาที่ไม่เติม s นะครับ เช่น
- I drive my car to work every day.

อย่าสับสนระหว่างพจน์ของคำนามและพจน์ของคำกริยา
คำนามเอกพจน์ คือคำนามที่ไม่ได้เติม s/es อย่างเช่น student, cat, table
คำนามพหูพจน์ คือคำนามที่เติม s/es อย่างเช่น students, cats, tables
