เราเป็นคนหนึ่งที่ชอบอ่าน Quote ภาษาอังกฤษมาก คือคำคมบางอันมันลึกซึ้ง มา deep แบบอธิบายเป็นคำพูดหรือแปลเป็นภาษาไทยแล้วมันยังไม่ถึงอะ ต้องใช้ความรู้สึกทำความเข้าใจความหมาย วันนี้เราได้รวบรวมคำคมภาษาอังกฤษ เกี่ยวกับดวงจันทร์และดวงอาทิตย์มาให้อ่านกัน มาล่องลอย เบาๆ ไปกับคำคมเหล่านี้กันน้า หรือใครจะเอาไปตั้งแคปชั่นในเฟสบุค หรืออินสตาแกรมก็ได้ ^^

*** ใช้คำว่า in case ในภาษาอังกฤษ เพื่อให้ความหมายว่า “เผื่อว่า / ในกรณีที่”
ตัวอย่างประโยคภาษาอังกฤษ
– Nadech might phone tonight. I don’t want to go out in case he phones.
แปลว่า ณเดชอาจโทรมาคืนนี้ ฉันไม่อยากออกไปข้างนอก เผื่อว่าเขาโทรมา
– I’ll draw a map for you in case you can’t find my house.
แปลว่า ฉันจะวาดแผนที่ให้คุณ เผื่อว่าคุณหาบ้านฉันไม่เจอ
– Bring a map in case you get lost.
แปลว่า นำแผนที่ไปด้วย เผื่อว่าคุณหลงทาง
ผู้เรียนสามารถใส่คำว่า just เข้าไปข้างหน้า เป็น just in case และใช้ในกรณีที่มีความเป็นไปได้น้อย เช่น
– I don’t think it will rain but I’ll take an umbrella just in case.
(ใจความเต็มคือ just in case it rains)
แปลว่า ฉันไม่คิดว่าฝนจะตกหรอกนะ แต่ฉันจะเอาร่มไปเผื่อ
– I don’t think I’ll need any money but I’ll bring some just in case.
แปลว่า ฉันไม่คิดว่าฉันจำเป็นต้องใช้เงิน แต่ฉันจะเอาไปเผื่อสักหน่อย
** ข้อควรระวังในการใช้ in case
ไม่ใช้ will หลัง in case แต่จะใช้ประโยคในรูปโครงสร้าง present tense ถึงแม้ว่าจะเป็นเหตุการณ์ที่จะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคตก็ตาม
ตัวอย่างประโยคภาษาอังกฤษ
– I don’t want to go out tonight in case Mario phones.
แปลว่า คืนนี้ฉันไม่อยากออกไปไหน เผื่อมาริโอ้(จะ)โทรมา
*** ความแตกต่างระหว่าง in case และ if
คำว่า in case กับ if มีความหมายไม่เหมือนกัน โดยสามารถเปรียบเทียบความแตกต่างได้ดังนี้
* in case ใช้บอกว่า ทำไม เช่น
– I’ll buy some more food in case Peter comes.
แปลว่า ฉันจะซื้ออาหารเพิ่ม เผื่อปีเตอร์(จะ)มา[ถึงอย่างไรก็จะซื้อเผื่อไว้ก่อน]
* if ใช้บอกเงื่อนไข
– I’ll buy some more food if Peter comes.
แปลว่า ฉันจะซื้ออาหารเพิ่ม ถ้าปีเตอร์มา[ถ้ามาถึงจะซื้อเพิ่ม ถ้าไม่มาก็ไม่ซื้อ]
ตัวอย่างประโยคเปรียบเทียบ คู่ที่ 2
– Let’s take our swimming costumes in case there’s a pool at the hotel.
แปลว่า เราเอาชุดว่ายน้ำไปกันเถอะ เผื่อมีสระว่ายน้ำที่โรงแรม[ไม่รู้ว่าที่โรงแรมมีสระว่ายน้ำไหม แต่เอาชุดไปก่อน]
– Let’s take our swimming costumes if there’s a pool in the hotel.
แปลว่า เราเอาชุดว่ายน้ำไปกัน ถ้ามีสระว่ายน้ำที่โรงแรม[รอข้อมูล .. เมื่อรู้ว่าที่โรงแรมมีสระว่ายน้ำ จึงค่อยเตรียมชุดว่ายน้ำไปกัน]
*** ความแตกต่างระหว่าง in case และ in case of
คำว่า in case of ให้ความหมายว่า “ในกรณี(ที่มี)” ซึ่งมักจะใช้กับป้ายประกาศ หรือเตือน
ตัวอย่างป้ายประกาศในลิฟต์ เขียนว่า
– In case of breakdown, please press the alarm button and call this number.
ตัวอย่างประโยคภาษาอังกฤษ
– In case of fire, …
แปลว่า ในกรณีที่มีเพลิงไหม้
– In case of emergency, …
แปลว่า ในกรณีฉุกเฉิน
