วันนี้ครูได้ สรุปเรื่อง การใช้ ประโยค ประโยค Comparative Adjectives
หรือ อีกชื่อหนึ่งคือ Comparison of Adjectives: การเปรียบเทียบคำคุณศัพท์ในภาษาอังกฤษ มาฝาก ไปลุยกันเลยจร้า

ความหมาย

Comparison of Adjectives คือ การเปรียบเทียบคำคุณศัพท์ ที่ใช้ในการเปรียบเทียบคน สัตว์ สิ่งของ หรือ อื่นๆ ในภาษาอังกฤษได้มีการเปรียบเทียบอยู่ 3 ขึ้น คือ

1)   ขั้นธรรมดา (Positive Degree)

2)    ขั้นกว่า (Comparative Degree)

3)    ขั้นสูงสุด (Superlative Degree)

 

ขั้นธรรมดา (Positive Degree)

 

เป็นการเปรียบเทียบความเท่าเทียมกัน ของสองสิ่ง โครงสร้างประโยคดังนี้

As + adjectives + as
แปลว่า …เท่าที่

เช่น
As long as you love me, I won’t go anywhere.

= ตราบเท่าที่เธอรักฉัน ฉันจะไม่ไปไหน

 

As soon as possible หรือ ASAP คำย่อในภาษาอังกฤษแปลว่า เร็วเท่าที่…

Ex. Please call me back ASAP you reach home.
= กรุณาติดต่อกลับเร็วที่สุดทันทีที่ถึงบ้าน

 

ตัวอย่างอื่นๆ เช่น

Marry is as tall as Jenny.
= แมร์รี่สูงเท่ากันกับเจนนี่

Tina is as diligent as Lukas.
= ติน่าขยันเท่ากันกับลูคัส

 

แบบฝึกหัด: Rearrange the words in correct order. (จงเรียงคำให้ถูกต้อง)

 

 

1. As/he/for/waits/her/long
2.They/will/there/as/possible/soon/as
3. long/As/as/love/him/you

 

 

ขั้นกว่า (Comparative Degree)

 

การใช้คำคุณศัพท์ในการเปรียบเทียบมีอยู่ 3 ขั้น แต่ในบทเรียนนี้เราจะเจาะจงไปที่การเปรียบเทียบขั้นกว่า หรือ Comparative Adjectives กันนะคะ 

• โครงสร้างประโยคแบบที่ 1 : S + V. to be + adj. +er + than
   รูปแบบแรกจะมีการเติม -er ท้ายคำคุณศัพท์ (adjective)  และตามด้วย than ประโยคนั้นจะมีความหมายว่า สิ่งหนึ่ง … กว่าอีกสิ่งหนึ่ง  เช่น ตัวอย่างด้านล่าง

  Nanny is younger than Lisa.
  = นีน่าอายุน้อยกว่าลิซ่า

• โครงสร้างประโยคแบบที่ 2 : S + V. to be + more + adj. + than
  รูปแบบนี้เราจะเติมคำว่า  more ไว้ด้านหน้า แล้วตามด้วยคำคุณศัพท์ (adjective) และวาง than ในลำดับต่อมา เพื่อที่จะเปรียบเทียบว่า

  สิ่งหนึ่ง … กว่าอีกสิ่งหนึ่ง

  เช่น
  English is more fun than Math.
  = ภาษาอังกฤษสนุกกว่าคณิตศาสตร์

  A dog is more playful than a cat.
  = สุนัขขี้เล่นกว่าแมว

หากเป็นความคิดเห็นมักจะเจอคำที่แสดงความคิดเห็นด้านหน้าประโยคเช่น

In my opinion,…..
= ในความคิดเห็นของฉันนั้น…..

Personally, I think that…..
= โดยส่วนตัวแล้ว ฉันคิดว่า…….

If you ask me, I think that…..
= ถ้าถามฉัน ฉันคิดว่า…….

ตัวอย่างประโยคที่แสดงความคิดเห็น

In my opinion, a cat is more cute than a dog.

= ฉันคิดว่าสุนัขน่ารักกว่าแมวเยอะเลย

 

มาลองอ่านบทสนทนาระหว่างนักเรียนจากประเทศไทยและนักเรียนจากประเทศอังกฤษ

 

Situation: There is a conversation between Nan and David below.

Nan: Hi David, what’s the weather like in England?
แนน: สวัสดีเดวิด อากาศวันนี้เป็นไงบ้าง

David: Hi Nan, it’s colder than Thailand I think.
เดวิด: สวัสดีแนน มันหนาวกว่าที่ไทยนะผมว่า

Nan: I couldn’t agree more. Thailand is hotter than England during summer.

แนน: เห็นด้วยเป็นอย่างยิ่งค่ะ ประเทศไทยร้อนกว่าประเทศอังกฤษเยอะเลยโดยเฉพาะหน้าร้อน
David: I see. I still prefer Thailand to England because I love the beaches.

เพิ่มเติม:

ถ้าหากว่าเราไม่ต้องการใช้โครงสร้าง more…than…เราก็สามารถใช้โครงสร้าง prefer something/someone to something/someone
ซึ่งแปลว่า ชอบ…มากกว่า …นั่นเองค่า

เช่น I prefer swimming to running.
= ฉันชอบว่ายน้ำมากกว่าวิ่งซะอีก

ขั้นสูงสุด (Superlative Degree)

 

 

เป็นการเปรียบเทียบขั้นสูงสุด ใช้ในการเปรียบเทียบที่มากกว่า 2 สิ่งขึ้นไป นิยมใช้ the นำหน้า ADJ. ซึ่งมีรูปประโยคดังนี้

The + คำคุณศัพท์ (Adjectives) เติม –est

Ex. The richest man in the world is in the USA.
แปล ผู้ชายที่รวยที่สุดในโลกอยู่ในประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา

 The + most + คำคุณศัพท์ (Adjectives)
Ex. The most handsome man in the world is Robert Pattinson right now.
แปล: โรเบิร์ต แพททินสันคือผู้ชายที่หล่อที่สุดในโลก ณ ตอนนี้

แบบฝึกหัด Superlative adjectives

เทคนิค การเติม Suffix “-er” ในขั้นกว่า และ Suffix “-est” ในขั้นสุด

 

1. คำคุณศัพท์พยางค์เดียว ให้เติม –er ในขั้นกว่า และเติม –est ในขั้นสูงสุด
2. คำคุณศัพท์พยางค์เดียว และมีเพียงสระตัวเดียว ให้เพิ่มพยัญชนะท้ายอีกหนึ่งตัว จากนั้นต้องเติม –er ในขั้นกว่า และเติม –est ในขั้นสูงสุด
3. คำคุณศัพท์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย e อยู่แล้วให้เติมเฉพาะ –r และ –st
   หรือตัด -e เดิมออกแล้วเติม-er ในขั้นกว่า และ –est ในขั้นสุด
4.   คำคุณศัพท์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย y ให้เปลี่ยนเป็น

   i แล้วเติม –er และเติม –est ในขั้นสุด

คำคุณศัพท์ที่มีหลายพยางค์ให้เติม more ในขั้นกว่าและเติม most ในขั้นสุด
