As an American teaching law and international studies to students in Istanbul, Turkey last year, I saw many middle and upper-class Afghans living in Turkey. Several students at the universities told me they were not going back and thier families, who can't get the visa to America or Europe, are just going to stay in Turkey. Afghans, Somalians, Ethiopians, Uygyurs (Chinese Muslims), Syrians, Nigerians and Ugandans are all in Istanbul, changing the demographic culture of the city. Its an interesting and exciting time to visit Istanbul, Turkey.
