dear teacher , the question ' how long have you been travelling ' with answer ' i've been travelling since june' . the answer only let me know ''how long has he/she travelled?'' , why don't we use past simple tense / besides, questioner seemingly encounter traveler in middle of journey ( the journey started in the past and continuous in future) , and he want to know how long have traveler planned for entire journey ( period) , i'm not good at english , hope you understand what i texted 🙂 thanks you so much <3
Imho all these examples don't clarify the characteristic(aspect) of the action. Whe she says "we've been writing an essay" in the meaning "we are still writing the essay" any student would ask what's thedifference then between continious and perfect continious. She would better mention that the difference between the use of perf simple and perf cont is that the first rather focuses on the fact itself (and its relevance to the present), while the second one concentrates on the duration AND the result that we can see now.

Hi I had a doubt, for sentences like: “I have searched the internet for information” and “I had searched the internet for information”, what is the difference? Do they mean they same, as they both got over in the past?
