Tóm tắt cách dùng another và the other , other , others , the others:
Bước 1: Chia thành hai nhóm DẠI TỪ và TỪ HẠN ĐỊNH
Xem ĐẠI TỪ như \”DANH TỪ\” (cách dùng như danh từ)
Xem TỪ HẠN ĐỊNH như \”TÍNH TỪ\” (cách dùng như tính từ)
Tất cả 5 chữ trên đều có thể làm \”danh từ\”
\”Danh từ\” gồm: another , other , the other , others , the others.
Tất cả chữ nào trong 5 chữ trên không có \”s\” đều có thể làm tính từ.
\”Tính từ\” gồm: another , other , the other.
Bước 2: Điền từ.
Nhìn sau chỗ trống nếu thấy có danh từ rồi thì điền \”tính từ\”: another , other hay the other.
+ Nếu là \”phần còn lại của …\” dùng the other.
+ Nếu là \”một cái khác \” dùng another.
+ Nếu không phải hai trường hợp trên: số nhiều dùng other, số ít dùng X + other.
Nhìn sau chỗ trống nếu chưa có danh từ:
+ Nếu là \”phần còn lại của …\”: số nhiều dùng the others, không phải số nhiều dùng the other.
+ Nếu là \”một cái khác, một người khác\” dùng another.
+ Không phải 2 trường hợp trên: số nhiều dùng \”others\”, số ít hay không đếm được dùng \”X + other\”.
