ประโยค  Passive Voice  ที่ไม่ต้องการ Preposition ‘by’

ประโยค  Passive Voice  ที่ไม่นิยมใช้  by + object ในประโยคเพราะไม่ต้องการเน้นผู้กระทำ (agent)  คือผู้กระทำนั้นไม่สำคัญและไม่จำเป็นที่จะต้องมีอยู่ในประโยค  เช่น

• People in Italy speak Italian. (Active Voice)

Italian is spoken in Italy.  (Passive Voice)

เราไม่จำเป็นต้องใช้คำว่า by people เพราะเราเห็นแน่ชัดแล้วว่าภาษาอิตาเลียนนั้นต้องมีคนเป็นผู้พูด (by people)

• Men have climbed Mount Everest many times. (Active Voice)

Mount Everest has been climbed many times.  (Passive Voice)

ประโยคนี้ไม่จำเป็นจะต้องถามว่าใครเป็นผู้ปีนเขา  เพราะฉะนั้นจึงไม่ต้องใส่คำว่า by men

• คำ Personal Pronoun  เช่น  me , you , us , him , her , them  ไม่ต้องใส่ไว้หลัง by ในประโยค Passive Voice

=   They will build a new road through here soon.

=   A new road will be built through here soon.

=   She is cooking the dinner now.

=   The dinner is being cooked now.

• คำ Everyone , Everybody , Someone , Somebody , No one , Nobody  ไม่ต้องใส่ไว้ในประโยค  Passive Voice เช่น

=   Everyone must obey the law.  (Active Voice)

=   The law must be obeyed.  (Passive Voice)

=   Everybody learns English in this school.  (Active Voice)

=   English is learned in this school.  (Passive Voice)

=   Someone has stolen my money.  (Active Voice)

=   My money has been stolen.  (Passive Voice)

=   No one ever obeys Tom.  (Active Voice)

=   Tom is never obeyed.  (Passive Voice)

1. Rewrite these sentences using passive form. Think why you do not need to use ‘by’ agent.

1. Someone knocked Jimmy down and broke his leg yesterday.

Yesterday Jimmy was knocked down and his leg was broken.

2. They were painting the fence when someone told them to stop.

The fence was being painted when they were told to stop.

3. Everyone must read the notice.

The notice must be read.

4. Nobody has ever liked Robert.

Robert has never been liked.

5. They will postpone the football match.

The football match will be postponed.

6. Man has conquered space.

Space has been conquered.

7. Somebody is making fun of us.

We are being made fun of.

8. People listened to the radio before someone invented television.

The radio was listened to before television was invented.

9. No one had loved him before.

He had never been loved before.

10. We are going to hold the competition.

The competition is going to be held.

1. Rewrite these sentences using the Passive Voice. Don’t say who performed the action.

1. They close the library at five o’clock every afternoon.

The library is closed at five o’clock every afternoon.

2. Someone will paint the gate next week-end.

The gate will be painted next week-end.

3. Nobody asked Bill to sing.

Bill was not asked to sing.

4. People aren’t going to hold the meeting tonight.

The meeting is not going to be held tonight.

5. They can mend this television set.

This television set can be mended.

6. People mustn’t park cars on that road.

Cars mustn’t be parked on that road.

7. People made Smith captain of the team.

Smith was made captain of the team.

8. They won’t finish the new bridge next month.

The new bridge won’t be finished next month.

9. Somebody has opened our door.

Our door has been opened.

10. They’ll broadcast that programme again.

That programme will be broadcast again.

1. ประโยคPassive Voice ที่ต้องการคำ preposition ‘by’

เพื่อแสดงให้เห็นว่าใครเป็นผู้กระทำอาการนั้น ๆ ในกรณีเช่นนี้จะต้องมี by + Object  ในประโยค  Passive Voice ด้วย  เช่น

=   Charles Dickens wrote this book.

=   This book was written by Charles Dickens.

(ถ้าไม่มีคำว่า by Charles Dickens แล้ว  ประโยคจะไร้ความหมาย)

=   A falling rock hit Joe on the head.

=   Joe was hit on the head by a falling rock.

ผู้กระทำกริยานี้จำเป็นต้องมีไว้ประโยค Passive Voice  เพื่อให้ความหมายเด่นชัดขึ้น

=   A snake did not bite her , a bee strung her.

=   She wasn’t bitten by a snake , she was strung by a bee.

1. กริยาช่วย(auxiliary verb) ต่าง ๆ   may , might , can , could , must , ought to , shall , should , has to , have to , etc.   ให้ใช้  be + Past Participle มาต่อท้ายเมื่อทำเป็นประโยค  Passive Voice ดังนี้คือ

 

  

    may , might

    can , could

    must , have to           + be + past Participle

    ought to

    etc.

 

You ought to open the window.

The window ought to be opened.

My teacher can speak German.

German can be spoken by my teacher.

The pupils should obey the teacher.

The teacher should be obeyed.

Passive Voice คือประโยคที่เน้นกรรม เน้นว่าใครถูกทำ 

Active Voice คือประโยคที่เน้นประธาน เน้นว่าใครทำอะไร

Active voice

 

 

ความหมาย

คือ ประโยคที่ประธานเป็นผู้กระทำกริยา  เช่น

Dr. James vaccinates a boy.
หมอเจมส์ฉีดวัคซีนให้เด็กหนุ่ม

Daniel and Jonathan often bike to school.
แดเนียลกับโจนาธานมักขี่จักรยานไปโรงเรียน

Jessica and Jennifer buy second-handed shoes.
เจสสิกาและเจนนิเฟอร์ซื้อรองเท้ามือสอง

 

1. เปลี่ยนกรรม ของประโยค Active ไปเป็นประธานของประโยค Passive
2. ผัน V. to be ตามประธาน ในบทนี้เราจะเน้นที่ เวลาในรูปปัจจุบัน  ตามโครงสร้าง S + V. to be  (is, am, are) S. = I, you, we, they ใช้ “are”/
   S. = He, She, It ใช้ “is”/ S. = I ใช้กับ “am”
3.  เปลี่ยน คำกริยาแท้ ให้เป็น Past Participle (V.3) อันนี้ต้องไปท่องกริยา3 ช่อง เพิ่มเติมจร้า
4. นำประธานของ Active ไปเป็นกรรมของ Passive โดยวางไว้หลัง by เพื่อเน้นผู้กระทำ แต่เรา

   สามารถละไว้ได้

ตัวอย่าง
Active: A chef slashes salmons into pieces.
แปล เชฟแล่ปลาแซลมอนเป็นชิ้นๆ

Passive: Salmons are slashed into pieces.
แปล แซลมอนถูกแล่เป็นชิ้นๆ

 

ถ้าในประโยคมีกรรมสองตัวคือ กรรมตรง (Direct Object) เป็นสิ่งของ และ กรรมรอง (Indirect Object) เป็นคน เมื่อเปลี่ยนเป็นประโยค Passive มักนำกรรมรอง (คน) มาเป็นประธาน แต่ถ้าจะนำกรรมตรง (สิ่งของ) มาเป็นประธานจะต้องใส่ to ที่หน้ากรรมรอง (คน) ท่องว่า
“กรรมตรงของ ต้อง (กรรม)รองคน”

Passive voice เป็นเรื่องที่เจอบ่อยมากทั้งในชีวิตประจำวันและในข้อสอบในส่วนของ Error และเติมคำก็มักนำมาออกเยอะมากๆ ถ้าเราจำโครงสร้างประโยค Passive Voice ได้ และนำมาใช้อย่างถูกต้องก็จะทำให้ภาษาอังกฤษของเราปังมากๆจร้า

Passive Voice

 

 

Passive Voice (แพ็ซซิฝ ว็อยซ) หมายถึงประโยคที่เน้นกรรม โดยการนำโครงสร้างผู้ถูกกระทำขึ้นต้นประโยค และหากว่าต้องการเน้นผู้กระทำให้เติม  “by + ผู้กระทำ” ท้ายประโยค แต่ว่าเราสามารถละ by ไว้ได้น๊า

หลักการใช้ Passive Voice

 

1. เน้นไปที่ผู้รับผลของการกระทำนั้นๆ ก็คือประธานของประโยคนั่นเอง เช่น

Active: Joey washes the dishes.
โจอี้ล้างจาน

VS 

Passivce: The dishes are washed by Joey.

จานถูกล้างโดยโจอี้

 

2. ไม่เน้นผู้กระทำเพราะไม่รู้ว่าผู้กระทำคือใคร

Active: Someone delivers a Papaya Salad to the customers.

ใครบางคนส่งส้มตำให้ลูกค้า

VS

Passive: A Papaya Salad is delivered to the customers.

ส้มตำถูกส่งลูกค้า
***จะเห็นได้ว่า ไม่รู้ว่าใครเป็นคนส่งเพราะว่าประธานเดิมของประโยค คือ  “Someone”

3. เน้นผู้กระทำด้วยการเติม by + ชื่อผู้กระทำ เช่น

Active: Tommy cooks a homemade pizza.
ทอมมี่ทำพิซซ่าโฮมเมด

VS

Passive: A homemade pizza is cooked by Tommy.
พิซซ่าโฮมเมดถูกทำโดยทอมมี่

 

ทริคดีๆ:

นอกจากนี้เราสามารถใช้  “Passive voice” ในการเขียนแบบวิชาการทางการหรืองานเขียนทางด้านวิทยาศาสตร์
ซึ่งพบได้ในบทความ หนังสือพิมพ์ วิจัย และผลงานทางด้านวิชาการเป็นส่วนใหญ่ ครูขอยกตัวอย่างเช่น

There have been more confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 68,219 deaths, are reported to WHO.

แปล: WHO ได้รับรายงานผู้ป่วยยืนยันติดเชื้อโควิด-19 เพิ่มขึ้น เสียชีวิต 68,219 ราย
***ประธาน “cases” กริยา “are” กริยาช่อง3 “reported”
