Verb to have หนึ่งในกริยาพื้นฐานสำคัญในภาษาอังกฤษ ที่เราจะได้เจอบ่อย ๆ แต่ก็ยังคงมีความสับสนและใช้งานผิด เพราะมีหลายความหมายทำได้หลายหน้าที่ ดังนั้นมาตีซี้กับ Verb to have กันเถอะ

** have ในความหมายว่า “มี” เป็น Stative verbs แสดงความเป็นเจ้าของ จะใช้ใน Continuous tenses ไม่ได้ (เติม -ing ไม่ได้) แต่ถ้าในความหมายว่า “กิน” เป็น Dynamic verbs สามารถใช้ในรูป -ing ได้

 

Verb to have นอกจากมีความหมายว่า “มี” แล้ว ยังใช้ในความหมายอื่น ๆ เช่น “กิน” ได้ด้วย อีกทั้งจัดอยู่ในกลุ่ม Primary auxiliary verbs คือ ทำหน้าที่เป็นได้ทั้งกริยาหลักและกริยาช่วย (เช่นเดียวกับ Verb to be และ Verb to do)

หลักการใช้ Verb to have

1. Verb to have ทำหน้าที่เป็นกริยาหลัก (Main Verbs)

Verb to have เมื่อทำหน้าที่เป็นกริยาหลักจะมีความหมายว่า “มี” และ “กิน”
Has ใช้กับ He/She/it และประธานเอกพจน์อื่น ๆ
Have ใช้กับ I/You/We/They และประธานพหูพจน์อื่น ๆ
Had เป็นรูปอดีตของ Have/Has ใช้ได้กับประธานทุกตัว

Ex.1 : I have a new job. (ฉันมีงานใหม่)
Ex. 2 : The dog has a black tail. (หมามีหางสีดำ)
Ex.3 : Tom had a big house. (ทอมเคยมีบ้านหลังใหญ่)
Ex. 4 : Mom and I have dinner at 7.00 pm. (แม่และฉันกินมื้อเย็นตอนหนึ่งทุ่ม)

นอกจากนี้ have/has got ก็มีความหมายว่า “มี” เช่นเดียวกัน เพียงแต่ have/has got เป็นการพูดแบบ British English ซึ่งพบในภาษาพูดมากว่าในภาษาเขียน เช่น

I have a new job. = I have got a new job. (ฉันมีงานใหม่)
Tom has a luxury car. = Tom has got a luxury car. (ทอมมีรถหรู)

หลักการทำเป็นประโยคปฏิเสธและประโยคคำถาม
     เมื่อทำเป็นประโยคปฏิเสธหรือประโยคคำถามต้องใช้กริยาช่วย Verb to do เข้ามาช่วย **จำให้แม่น! Verb to have ที่เป็นกริยาหลักห้ามใส่ not หลัง have/has

Ex. 1 : I don’t have any time. (ฉันไม่มีเวลาเลย)
Ex. 2 : My boyfriend doesn’t have a car. (แฟนฉันไม่มีรถ)

ประโยคคำถาม

Yes/No Questions : Do + I/You/We/They และประธานพหูพจน์อื่น ๆ + have….?
                            Does + He/She/it และประธานเอกพจน์อื่น ๆ + have…?
Wh-Questions : What/When/Where/Who/How + do + I/you/we/they+ have…?
                       What/When/Where/Who/How + does + he/she/it + have…?

Ex. 1 : Do you have any good books for studying English? (คุณมีหนังสือดี ๆ สำหรับเรียนภาษาอังกฤษบ้างไหม?)
Ex. 2 : Does Nid have any brothers or sisters? (นิดมีพี่ชายน้องชายหรือพี่สาวน้องสาวบ้างไหม?)
Ex. 3 : Where do you usually have lunch? (ปกติคุณทานมื้อกลางวันที่ไหน?)

**ประธานเอกพจน์ เมื่อทำเป็นประโยคปฏิเสธใช้ doesn’t และประโยคคำถามใช้ does แล้ว ให้เปลี่ยน has กลับมาเป็น have นั่นเป็นเพราะว่า has คือรูปเติม s ของ have (ตามหลักไวยากรณ์ ใน Present Simple Tense ประธานเอกพจน์ V.1 ต้องเติม s/es เมื่อเป็นประโยคปฏิเสธหรือคำถาม กริยาจะกลับมาอยู่ในรูป V.1 ปกติ)

2. Verb to have ทำหน้าที่เป็นกริยาช่วย (Auxiliary Verbs)

2.1. เป็นกริยาช่วยใน Perfect Tense

โครงสร้างประโยค Present Perfect Tense : Subject + have/has/had + V.3…
โครงสร้างประโยค Past Perfect Tense : Subject + had + V.3…
โครงสร้างประโยค Future Perfect Tense : Subject + will have + V.3…

Ex. 1 : I have worked hard this week. (สัปดาห์นี้ฉันทำงานหนัก)
Ex. 2 : She has been a teacher for over 20 years. (เธอเป็นครูมากว่า 20 ปี)
Ex. 3 : Tom had read the book before he watched a film. (ทอมอ่านหนังสือก่อนที่เขาดูหนัง)
Ex. 4 : We will have gone when you arrive. (พวกเราคงจะไปแล้วเมื่อคุณมาถึง)

เมื่อทำเป็นประโยคปฏิเสธสามารถใส่ not ตามหลัง Verb to have ได้เลย (have not = haven’t, has not = hasn’t, had not = hadn’t) ส่วน Future Perfect Tense เปลี่ยน will have เป็น won’t have

Ex. 1 : We haven’t seen Tom. (พวกเราไม่เห็นทอม)
Ex. 2 :  She won’t have spoken to Mark. (เธอคงจะไม่พูดกับมาร์ก)

เมื่อทำเป็นประโยคคำถาม Yes/No Questions นำ Verb to have มาขึ้นต้นประโยค

Ex. 1 : Have you washed your face today? (วันนี้คุณได้ล้างหน้าหรือเปล่า?)
Ex. 2 : Has he met the manager? (เขาได้พบผู้จัดการหรือเปล่า?)

2.2. ใช้ have/has/had to ในความหมายว่า ต้อง

โครงสร้างประโยค : Subject + have/has/had to + V.1….

Ex. 1 : Nida has to do it by herself. (นิดาต้องทำมันด้วยตัวเอง)
Ex. 2 : I have to get up early. (ฉันต้องตื่นแต่เช้า)

2.3. ใช้ในประโยคที่แสดงถึงการกระทำที่ไม่ได้กระทำด้วยตัวเอง (Causative form) มี 2 ประเภท คือ

1. Have someone do something ให้ใครเป็นคนทำบางอย่างให้ผู้พูด
    โครงสร้างประโยค : Subject + have/has/had + ผู้กระทำ + V.1

Ex. 1 : I have my son wash my car. (ฉันให้ลูกชายล้างรถของฉัน)
Ex. 2 : Tom has his wife cook every day. (ทอมให้ภรรยาของเขาทำอาหารทุกวัน)
Ex. 3 : They will have the painter paint their house. (พวกเขาจะให้ช่างทาสีมาทาสีบ้านของพวกเขา)

2. Have something done ให้ใครทำบางอย่างโดยไม่ได้พูดถึงตัวผู้กระทำ
    โครงสร้างประโยค : Subject + have/has/had + สิ่งที่ถูกกระทำ + V.3

Ex. 1 : I have my hair cut every three months. (ฉันตัดผมทุกสามเดือน: คนอื่นหรือช่างตัดผมเป็นคนตัด)
Ex. 2 : He had his watch fixed. (เขาเอานาฬิกาไปซ่อมมา : คนอื่นหรือช่างเป็นคนซ่อม)

2.4. สำนวนที่ใช้ Verb to have ตามด้วย a + verb จะทำให้กริยานั้นกลายเป็นคำนาม และแปลความหมายตามคำกริยาที่ตามหลัง

Ex. 1 : I want to have a rest. (ฉันต้องการพักผ่อน)
Ex. 2 : He has a walk along the streets to kill time. (เขาเดินไปตามท้องถนนเพื่อฆ่าเวลา)

นอกจากยังมีสำนวนที่ใช้ Verb to have อีกมากมายและเราคุ้นเคยกันดีอย่าง have a good time. แปลว่า สนุก, have a nice day. ขอให้เป็นวันที่ดี, have one’s own way. แปลว่า เอาแต่ใจตัวเอง ซึ่งเราจะนำมาแนะนำกันในครั้งต่อ ๆ ไป หลังจากนี้ขอให้สนุกกับการใช้ Verb to have นะคะ
