IRREGULAR PLURAL NOUN DEFINITION
An irregular plural noun is an irregular noun in the plural form. An irregular noun is a noun that becomes plural by changing its spelling in other ways than adding an “s” or “es” to the end of the word. This change can happen in a variety of ways.
For example, the plural form of man is men, not mans. The plural form of woman is women, not womans.

PLURALS
(คำนามพหูพจน์)
คำนามที่นับได้หรือ countable noun จะมี 2 รูปด้วยกันคือ
(1) รูปเอกพจน์ (singular) โดยจะต้องมี a/an (แปลว่า \”หนึ่ง/1\”) หรือ the
นำหน้าเสมอ และ
(2) รูปพหูพจน์ (plural) คือมีมากกว่า 1
การเปลี่ยนคำนามเอกพจน์ให้เป็นพหูพจน์
1. เติม s ท้ายคำนามได้เลย เช่น
2 cars
2 dogs
2 books
2 houses
2 apples

2. หากคำนามลงท้ายด้วย s, ss, ch, sh, x ต้องเติม es ท้ายคำนั้นๆ เช่น
2 buses
2 dresses
2 matches
2 dishes
2 boxes
3. คำนามที่ลงท้ายด้วย o แบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภทคือ เติม s หรือ เติม es
ส่วนมากแล้วคำนามที่ลงท้ายด้วย o มักจะเติม s ได้เลย เช่น
2 zoos
2 radios
2 photos
2 stereos
2 videos
2 kargaroos
2 pianos
บางคำที่ลงท้ายด้วย o จะต้องเติม es เช่น
2 echoes
2 heroes
2 potatoes
2 tomatoes
4. คำนามที่ลงท้ายด้วย y แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ประเภท คือเติม s หรือเติม es
ถ้าหน้า y เป็นสระ a, e, i, o, u คำนามตัวนั้นจะต้องเติม s เช่น
2 keys
2 days
2 guys
2 boys
2 chimneys
ถ้าหน้า y เป็นพยัญชนะ ให้ตัด  ทิ้งแล้วเปลี่ยนเป็น i แล้วจึงเติม es เช่น
2 babies
2 cities
2 stories
2 parties
2 countries
2 strawberries
5. คำนามที่ลงท้ายด้วย f หรือ fe ให้เปลี่ยนตัว f/ หรือ fe เป็น v แล้วจึงเติมes เช่น
2 leaves
2 wolves
2 lives
2 knives
2 shelves
ยกเว้น roof roofs, giraffe giraffes, cliff cliffs
6. คำนามบางคำ เวลาทำเป็นพหูพจน์ ต้องเปลี่ยนรูปคำนั้นทันที ได้แก่
a manmen
a womanwomen
a personpeople
a footfeet
a toothteeth
a childchildren
a mousemice
7. คำนามบางตัวจะมีรูปเดียวทั้งเอกพจน์และพหูพจน์ เช่น
fish (ปลา)
sheep (แกะ)
deer (กวาง)
series (ซีรีส์)
species (พันธุ์, ชนิด)
means (วิธีการ)
aircraft (เครื่องบิน)
moose (กวางมูส)
trout (ปลาเทราต์)
salmon (ปลาแซลมอน)
8. คำนามบางคำเป็นพหูพจน์อยู่เสมอ คือต้องมี s หรือ es ต่อท้ายเสมอ
