IELTS / TOEFL Grammar – Present Perfect Tense Use
present perfect.
Thank you, Adam. Your lessons are awesome, but in some cases I need to watch the videos several times to get all points that you want to teach.
Why did you use has been in the last example?
What is the difference between he knew vs he has known
Hope you are doing well.
I have some questions to you and expecting to be answered quickly.
1) House has burnt.
2) Shop has opened.
3) Show has started.
4) The document has submitted.
Now tell me if the first three sentences are correct which I know are correct why the fourth one is wrong. What is the logic behind this or which rules make the first three sentences correct and make the fourth one wrong.
Many other examples are following
1) Room filled with balloons. (correct in past simple.)
2) Room was filling with water. (not correct in past continuous but why?)
3) Glass broke. (correct in past simple.)
4) Glass was breaking. (not correct in past continuous but why?)
in the last example u were using has been but that's to present perfect continuous, right?
Thank you very much
You are the bestttttt Adam…
I have many experience before so I get interview again what’s tense I should say?present perfect or past?please tell me I alway nervous about tense.
When we talk about hours experience interview so we can use present perfect or past?
In American English, it is perfectly fine to say ''I lost my key. I cannot find it anywhere.'' whereas in British English, it is more appropriate to say ''I have lost my key. I cannot find it anywhere.'' Mind you, I do not think it is that strict anymore since American English keeps infiltrating British English, and this is ever more true due to globalization, which is driven in particular by the worldwide web. In my opinion, talking about experience or an ongoing event with ''since'' and ''for'', the present perfect is still mandatory in both British and American English.
A good example of this would be ''I have flown to New York three times.'', or ''I have been in London for two years.'', which implies that I am still in London, or that I still live in this city.
Nevertheless, your explanation is excellent, clear and very easy to understand. Hats off! Keep up the good work.🙂👍Joern from Germany
Impressive video.
Thanks for your video my question is how do native American speakers learn these tenses
so informative, i like it when you insert the use of other tenses into the one that you are talking about, i makes things even clearer

@Write to top, Adam, thank you so much for those valuable videos you made! It really helps me a lot! Thanks a million!!! I have a minor consideration in some playlists on your channel. The classification, and especially the order of your videos sometimes seem not so appropriate. For example in this playlist, the second video is Present Perfect Part 2, the third video comes to Present Perfect part 1. (You said at the beginning of your video part 2 that this is part 2 if you want to know when to use Present Perfect Tense please check the video Part 1. So I searched out part 1 and finished it and then I came back to Part 2. Then I watched it and finished it. And then I surprisingly found that the upcoming video in the playlist is actually part 1. Lol… )

Thanks a lot
The most informative lesson on present perfect tense. He is capable to teach the ways that can’t be misunderstood.
It's great for only " advanced learners" or for upper-intermediate level
"Action begun in the past".Just wondering if that sentence is grammatically correct?
Shouldn't it have been; "Action began in past."
As far as i know the past participle form of verb should only be used in perfect tenses with have, has or had. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks
Why not I have been living here for three years??
Thank you so much.

Dear teacher, May I ask the use of "present perfect" in the following sentence? Which number is it, according to your explanations?
"I'm sick of you being so damn perfect all the time. I-I'm sick of the bizarre way your hair doesn't move. I'm sick of you making our bed in the morning before I've even used the bathroom. Where's the woman I fell in love with."
