1. He has been taking medicines for depression for 6 months
Or 2. He had been taking medicines for the last 6 months?
Or 3. He was taking medicines for 6 months?

In one of the given examples you say 'This chicken has already been cooking for two hours'. The phrase sounds a bit off to me. It sounds like the chicken knows how to cook. It just sounds a bit funny. 😀
