Hi there! Happy Holidays! I painted these festive looking pine cones just in time for December 24, because in Spain Christmas Eve is a greater deal than Christmas itself. We also celebrate Christmas holidays until January 6 so while most of you are already removing all the festive decoration we still keep it for two more weeks.
So these pinecones were collected by my family and I just had to spray paint them in red and gold colors. I’m not a fan of spray paint and I try not to use it often because it’s really toxic, so if you use it make sure to do it in a well ventilated place and cover your skin, clothes and face properly. The gold spray paint I used dried pretty fast and the smell went away after a couple hours, but the red spray paint took almost two days to dry completely and the smell lasted for days. They are the same brand so I guess the red paint was in a bad state, I didn’t check the expiration date… But they still look really good, most of my family members liked the red ones more. Anyway, the spray paint was really cheap, only 2.25 euros for each container.
After the base color I used Americana Gloss Enamels by DecoArt in white, gold and blue color for the details, and some cheap puffy paint I got from the craft store (it turned out not to be so puffy after drying, I don’t know what I was expecting with such a low price. They still have lovely colors so I’m not complaining).
I tried to remove all dust and spider webs remaining but it was an impossible task. Just embrace having the texture of painted spider webs on your pinecones, that’s what happens when you take your materials from a natural environment ^^

¡Felices fiestas!
