I read a book the title is The Manual. It has been put a distinction between like + infinitive and like + -ing (gerund). When it is used with -ing, it means something that one ENJOY (e.g. "I like swimming." means I enjoy swimming.). While with infinitive, it means something one DESIRES or WANTS (e.g. "I like to swim today."). It can also mean to REQUIRE specially if it is followed by an objective noun/pronoun (for example, "The principal likes the student to come to the former's office because of the latter's bad behavior." which like is followed by the object pronoun 'him').
''Would' can be conjugated to 'like' + infinitive (e.g. "I would like to swim."), which means a desire or want…or require if followed by object (e.g. "The principal would like the student to come to the former's office because of the latter's bad behavior."). When 'would like' can only be used with infinitive but not with -ing.
Other verbs such as 'love,' 'prefer,' or 'hate' can also be conjugated with infinitive just like 'like' (e.g. "I love to see the movie 'Train To Busan." and so are the other two.) 'Would' can also be used with 'love,' 'prefer,' or 'hate.' (e.g. "I would love to see the movie 'Train To Busan."). 'Would' can be employed only with infinitive, same as 'like' usage above.

una pregunta, los demas verbos como walk, eat, drink etc. se pueden utilizar de las dos maneras?
¡Me alegro mucho Juan! Saludos, Lucie
Super bueno gracias no entendia esa clase y gracias a ti la entendi muchas gracias!!!!!
¡Hola Ana Patricia!
Hi! Yes, you can… in this case you have two options:
Option 1 – simple past: He quit smoking last year.
Option 2 – present perfect: He's quit smoking. (without 'last year')
I hope this helps! Hugs, Lucie
Hi! It is confusing! But you can say: "I'm considering studying French." or "He's avoiding making noise." It sounds weird, but I think that's the right way to say it. Hope it helps! Hugs, Lucie
Hi! You're absolutely right! 🙂 Thanks for clearing that up. Hugs, Lucie
MY DEAR, What about ¨Yo estoy considerando estudiar Frances or El esta evitando hacer ruido.¨ ????? segun la regla considerer y evitar van solo con gerundio, que pasa cuando ya estamos hablando en gerundio con ellos. Gracias manita. Soy profe y aveces me enredo imaginate.
