จากตารางด้านบนนักเรียนจะเห็นถึงความแตกต่างว่า การใช้ There is และ There are นั้นจะบอกถึง การมีอยู่ ส่วนการใช้ Have/has นั้นจะบอกถึงการเป็นเจ้าของ ซึ่งรูปประโยคก็จะเปลี่ยนไปขึ้นอยู่กับประธานและ Tense นั่นเองจ้า

 

 

There is/There are คืออะไร

 

 

There is และ There are แปลว่า “มี” “มีสิ่งใดดำรงอยู่” หรือ “มีสิ่งใดเกิดขึ้น” ซึ่งจะต่างจาก Have/has ที่แปลว่า มี ในลักษณะแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของ

 

 

ประโยคบอกเล่า

 

 

สำหรับคำนามนับไม่ได้ ซึ่งไม่มีรูปพหูพจน์ เราจะต้องใช้ there is เท่านั้น

There are many people at the coffee shop.

ร้านกาแฟมีคนเยอะมาก

There are many flowers in the garden.
มีดอกไม้ในสวนเยอะมาก

 

ประโยคปฏิเสธ

 

 

การใช้ there is และ there are ในประโยคปฏิเสธ หลักๆแล้วเราสามารถใช้ได้ 2 แบบ คือ

 

  • ประโยคที่เราสามารถใช้ not หลัง there is และ there are เลย
    ตัวอย่างเช่น

 

เราสามารถใช้ there is not (เขียนย่อเป็น there isn’t) และ there are not
(เขียนย่อเป็น there aren’t) เพื่อสื่อว่า “ไม่ได้มีสิ่งใดอยู่”

 

โครงสร้าง:
“There isn’t/aren’t + ปริมาณ + คำนามนับได้”
เพื่อบอกว่าไม่ได้มีสิ่งนั้นในปริมาณเท่านั้น แต่มีมากหรือน้อยกว่า

  • isn’t ย่อมาจาก is not + นามนับได้เอกพจน์ เช่น a rat, a cat, a car, an ant, an apple
  • aren’t ย่อมาจาก are not + นามนับได้พหูพจน์ rats, cats, cars, flowers, houses, buildings

 

ประโยคA)

There isn’t one cat behind that fence.

ไม่มีแมวตัวหนึ่งอยู่หลังรั้วนั้น (อาจจะมีแมวมากกว่าหนึ่งตัวก็ได้)

ประโยค B)

There aren’t cats in that house.
บ้านนั้นไม่มีแมว

 

  • โครงสร้าง “There isn’t any + คำนามนับไม่ได้” หากต้องการบอกว่า

    ไม่มีสิ่งนั้นอยู่เลย

     ดังในตัวอย่างประโยคด้านล่าง

 

There isn’t any money left.
ไม่มีเงินเหลือแล้ว

 

  • ใช้โครงสร้าง “There aren’t any + คำนามนับได้พหูพจน์” เพื่อบอกว่าไม่มีสิ่งนั้นอยู่เลย
    ดังในตัวอย่างประโยคด้านล่าง

There aren’t any people at his funeral.
ไม่มีคนที่งานศพของเขา

 

 

  • นักเรียนสามารถบอกว่าไม่ได้มีสิ่งใด หรือ ใคร อยู่ ในโครงสร้าง “There is no + คำนามนับได้เอกพจน์”
    ดังตัวอย่างประโยค 

There is no one in the toilet.
ไม่มีใครอยู่ในห้องน้ำ

 

  • ใช้โครงสร้าง “There is no + คำนามนับไม่ได้” แปลว่า ไม่มี…+ คำนามนั้นๆ
    ดังตัวอย่างประโยค

There is no juice in the refrigerator this week.
สัปดาห์นี้ไม่มีน้ำผลไม้ในตู้เย็น

 

  • ใช้โครงสร้าง “There are no + คำนามนับได้พหูพจน์” แปลว่า ไม่มี…+ คำนามนั้นๆ
    ดังตัวอย่างประโยค

There are no cows in the rice field.
ไม่มีวัวในนาข้าว

 

ประโยคคำถาม

 

หลักๆแล้วเราจะใช้ there is และ there are ในประโยคคำถาม 2 แบบ คือ

 

  • มีหรือไม่

ในการถามว่ามีสิ่งใดหรือไม่ เราจะใช้ Is there… และ Are there… โดยโครงสร้างที่ใช้หลักๆแล้วจะมี

 

โครงสร้าง “Is there + a/an + คำนามนับได้เอกพจน์”
ตัวอย่างเช่น

 

Is there a book in your school bag?

มีหนังสือในกระเป๋านักเรียนของคุณหรือเปล่า

 

 

โครงสร้าง “Is there + any + คำนามนับไม่ได้”
ตัวอย่างเช่น

 

Is there any sugar in the kitchen?
มีน้ำตาลในครัวหรือเปล่า

 

และ “Are there + any + คำนามนับได้พหูพจน์”
ตัวอย่างเช่น

มีรถให้เช่าบ้างไหม

ประโยคบอกเล่า

การใช้ there is และ there are ในประโยคปฏิเสธ หลักๆแล้วเราสามารถใช้ได้ 2 แบบ คือ

 

  • ประโยคที่เราสามารถใช้ not หลัง there is และ there are เลย
    ตัวอย่างเช่น

 

เราสามารถใช้ there is not (เขียนย่อเป็น there isn’t) และ there are not
(เขียนย่อเป็น there aren’t) เพื่อสื่อว่า “ไม่ได้มีสิ่งใดอยู่”

So where there’s a will, there’s a way means that if you want to do something, you will find a way to do it, and if you put your mind to it, if you put your mind to something, it means that you are going to work really hard and think really hard so that you can get it done.
