การศึกษาเรื่องโครงสร้างประโยคของ Tense ต่าง ๆ ทำให้สามารถเข้าใจได้อย่างชัดเจนว่าเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังกล่าวถึงอยู่นั้นเกิดขึ้นในช่วงเวลาใด ซึ่งช่วยป้องกันการสื่อสารที่ผิดพลาด วันนี้เราจะเริ่มเรียน Tense พื้นฐานอย่าง Present Simple Tense กันก่อน ไปลุยกันเลย!
ลักษณะการใช้ Present Simple Tense
Present แปลว่า ปัจจุบัน ดังนั้น Present Simple Tense จึงเป็นประโยคที่มีโครงสร้างแบบง่าย ๆ เพื่อใช้พูดถึงเหตุการณ์ในปัจจุบันนั่นเอง โดยมีลักษณะต่าง ๆ ดังนี้
1. ใช้เพื่อพูดถึงความเป็นจริงในชีวิตประจำวัน หรือความเป็นจริงตามธรรมชาติ ถึงแม้ว่าเหตุการณ์นั้นจะเป็นอดีตหรืออนาคตก็ตาม เช่น
When the earth moves around itself, it makes Day and Night.
(เมื่อโลกหมุนรอบตัวเอง มันทำให้เกิดกลางวันกลางคืน)
Durian is the king of fruit.
(ทุเรียนเป็นราชาผลไม้)
2. ใช้เพื่อพูดถึงเหตุการณ์ นิสัย หรือการกระทำที่เกิดขึ้นซ้ำ ๆ บ่อย ๆ เป็นประจำทุกวัน เช่น
I walk to school every day.
(ฉันเดินไปโรงเรียนทุกวัน)
Nuda always help other people so everyone loves her.
(นุดาช่วยเหลือคนอื่นเป็นประจำ ดังนั้นทุกคนจึงรักหล่อน)
3. ใช้เพื่อให้คำแนะนำหรือการบอกทิศทาง เช่น
Turn off the television before going to bed.
(ปิดโทรทัศน์ก่อนเข้านอน)
You go straight for 300 meters, then the destination is on your left.
(คุณเดินตรงไป 300 เมตรและจุดหมายปลายทางจะอยู่ทางซ้ายมือของคุณ)
รูปประโยคของ Present Simple Tense
ดังที่ได้กล่าวข้างต้นว่า Present Simple Tense คือประโยคที่บอกเล่าเรื่องราวต่าง ๆ เช่น ฉันว่ายน้ำทุก ๆ วัน โดยรูปประโยคของ Present Simple Tense มีรูปแบบดังต่อไปนี้
1. ประโยคบอกเล่า
โครงสร้างของประโยคบอกเล่า : Subject + Verb.1 + Object + (คำบอกเวลา)
ทั้งนี้คำกริยาช่องที่ 1 นั้นจะมีการเติม s หรือ es ถ้าหากประธานของประโยคเป็นเอกพจน์ (He, She, It) แต่ถ้าประธานเป็น I, You หรือประธานพหูพจน์ (You (หลายคน), We, They) ให้คงรูปคำกริยานั้น ๆ ไว้เช่นเดิม เช่น
I go to university by bus every morning.
(ฉันไปมหาวิทยาลัยโดยรถโดยสารประจำทางทุกเช้า)
**ประโยคนี้ประธานคือ I แม้จะเป็นเอกพจน์แต่เป็นข้อยกเว้น ดังกริยา go จึงไม่ต้องเติม s หรือ es
He plays guitar very well.
(เขาเล่นกีตาร์เก่งมาก)
**ประโยคนี้ประธานคือ He เป็นเอกพจน์ กริยาคือ play จึงต้องเติม s
They enjoy playing the football.
(พวกเขาสนุกกับการเล่นฟุตบอล)
**ประโยคนี้ประธานคือ They เป็นพหูพจน์ กริยาคือ enjoy จึงไม่ต้องเติม s หรือ es
ความรู้เพิ่มเติม : หลักการเติม s,es นั้นง่ายนิดเดียว คือ คำกริยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย ch, o, s, ss, sh, x ให้เติม es เมื่อประธานของประโยคเป็นเอกพจน์ (He, She, It) เช่น
She washes her car.
ประธานของประโยคคือ She ซึ่งเป็นเอกพจน์ คำกริยาคือ wash ที่ลงท้ายด้วย sh จึงต้องเติม es ต่อท้าย
ส่วนคำกริยาอื่น ๆ ที่ไม่ได้ลงท้ายด้วยพยัญชนะทั้ง 6 ตัวนั้น ให้เติม s หลังคำกริยาในประโยคที่มีประธานเป็นเอกพจน์ได้เลย เช่น
My mom cooks some food for me.
ประธานของประโยคคือ My mom ซึ่งเป็นเอกพจน์ เราใช้ She แทน My mom ได้ คำกริยาคือ cook ที่ไม่ได้ลงท้ายด้วยพยัญชนะตามกฎ จึงเติม s ได้ทันที
และถ้าหากคำกริยานั้นลงท้ายด้วย y ให้เปลี่ยน y เป็น i แล้วเติม es ท้ายคำกริยานั้น เช่น study – studies, fly – flies, carry – carries เป็นต้น แต่มีข้อยกเว้นคือ ถ้าหากหน้า y เป็นสระ (A, E, I, O, U) ให้เติม s ได้ทันที เช่น play – plays, buy – buys, stay – stays
2. ประโยคคำถาม
โครงสร้างของประโยคคำถามใน Present Simple Tense มีสองรูปแบบคือ
แบบที่ 1 : Verb to be + Subject + Object/ส่วนขยาย + (คำบอกเวลา) ?
ใช้เมื่อในประโยคนั้นมี V. to be (Is, Am, Are) ปรากฎอยู่ เช่น
She is my sister. —> Is she your sister ? (หล่อนเป็นน้องสาวคุณหรือเปล่า?)
เมื่อเห็น V. to be ในประโยคให้นำ V. to be ขึ้นต้นประโยคนำหน้าประธานได้เลย เพียงเท่านี้ก็จะกลายเป็นประโยคคำถาม (และอย่าลืมเปลี่ยนคำสรรพนามด้วยนะคะ จาก my เป็น your)
แบบที่ 2 : Verb to do + Subject + Verb.1 + Object + (คำบอกเวลา)?
ใช้เมื่อประโยคนั้นไม่มี V. to be จึงต้องนำ V. to do ได้แก่ do กับ does เข้ามาช่วย โดยขึ้นต้นประโยคนำหน้าประธาน ซึ่งมีวิธีการใช้ที่แตกต่างกันคือ Do ใช้นำหน้า I, You และประธานที่เป็นพหูพจน์ (You, We, They) ส่วน Does ใช้นำหน้าประธานที่เป็นเอกพจน์ (He, She, It) และคำกริยาคงรูปช่องที่ 1 เหมือนเดิมโดยไม่ต้องเติม s, es เช่น
They play football every evening. —> Do they play football every evening? (พวกเขาเล่นฟุตบอลทุกเย็นหรือเปล่า?)
ประโยคนี้ไม่มี V. to be อยู่ในประโยค จึงนำ V. to do มาใช้ขึ้นต้นประโยคนำหน้า they ซึ่งเป็นประธานพหูพจน์
That cat eats fish. —> Does that cat eat fish ? (แมวตัวนั้นกินปลาหรือเปล่า?)
ประโยคนี้ไม่มี V. to be อยู่ในประโยค จึงนำ V. to do นั่นก็คือ does มาใช้ขึ้นต้นประโยคนำหน้า that cat หรือก็คือ it ซึ่งเป็นประธานเอกพจน์ โดยคำกริยาคือ eat มีการตัด s ออกในประโยคคำถาม
3. ประโยคปฏิเสธ
รูปแบบประโยคปฏิเสธใน Present Simple Tense มีสองรูปแบบคล้ายกับรูปแบบประโยคคำถามคือ
แบบที่ 1 : Subject + Verb to be + not + Object/ส่วนขยาย + (คำบอกเวลา)
ใช้เมื่อในประโยคนั้นมี V. to be (Is, Am, Are) ปรากฎอยู่ เช่น
I am your servant. —> I am not your servant. (ฉันไม่ได้เป็นคนรับใช้ของคุณ)
เมื่อเห็น V. to be ในประโยคให้เติม not ไว้หลัง V. to be ได้ทันที เพียงเท่านี้ก็จะกลายเป็นประโยคปฏิเสธ
แบบที่ 2 : Subject + Verb to do + not + Verb.1 + Object + (คำบอกเวลา)
แบบที่สองใช้เมื่อประโยคนั้นไม่มี V. to be จึงต้องนำ V. to do ได้แก่ do กับ does เข้ามาช่วยแล้วตามหลังด้วย not เพื่อบอกความปฏิเสธ ส่วนคำกริยาให้คงรูปช่องที่ 1 เหมือนเดิมโดยไม่ต้องเติม s,es เช่น
He watches television at home. —> He does not watch television at home. (เขาไม่ได้ดูโทรทัศน์อยู่ที่บ้าน)
ประโยคนี้ไม่มี V. to be อยู่ในประโยค จึงนำ V. to do นั่นก็คือ does มาเป็นกริยาช่วยและตามด้วย not เพื่อบอกรูปปฏิเสธ ส่วนคำกริยาเมื่ออยู่ในรูปปฏิเสธแล้วให้ตัด s,es ทิ้งคงเหลือคำกริยาช่องที่ 1 รูปเดิม
คำบอกเวลาใน Present Simple Tense
ในประโยค Present Simple Tense มักจะมีคำบอกเวลาซึ่งเป็น Adverbs of Frequency ปรากฎอยู่ในประโยคเพื่อบอกความถี่ของเหตุการณ์หรือการกระทำนั้น ๆ ได้แก่

Crypto and blockchain are seriously cool technologies that really deserve the spotlight, and it has been very exciting riding the waves over the last few years. The coins on this list are all spectacular projects that have a lot of great uses or are icons in the crypto world. Holding them long term should be a good bet however in the short term they can always go up or down significantly.
