[Update] จำศัพท์ง่ายๆ ด้วย Prefix | determiner แปลว่า – NATAVIGUIDES

determiner แปลว่า: นี่คือโพสต์ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับหัวข้อนี้

วันนี้เรามีบทความดีๆจากเว็บบล็อกหนึ่งมาฝากกันครับ  เป็นข้อมูลที่น่าสนใจมากๆ ขอขอบพระคุณไว้ ณ ที่นี้ด้วยครับ ^^

[Dis-] = Not
ไม่ว่าจะคำไหนๆ เจอ dis- ใส่เข้าไป
ความหมายตรงข้ามทันที !

dis + like = dislike (v.)
คำนี้พอรวมกันแล้วก็คือ “ไม่ชอบ” นั่นเองครับ
*(อย่าสับสนคำนี้กับคำว่า unlike นะครับ เพราะคำว่า unlike จะแปลว่า
ต่างกัน หรือ ไม่เหมือนกัน เพราะ like คำนี้เป็น preposition ครับ)

dis + agree = disagree (v.)
ไม่เห็นด้วย เชอะ!

dis + able = disable (v.)
แปลว่า ทำให้สูญเสียความสามารถบางอย่าง หรือยกเลิก หยุดทำ
คำนี้ถ้าทำเป็น adj. จะเขียนว่า “disabled” ซึ่งจะ
หมายถึงผู้พิการครับ (ex. disabled people / the disabled)

dis + advantage = disadvantage (n.)
แปลว่าข้อเสียครับ ตรงข้ามกับ advantage (ข้อดี)

dis + appear = disappear (v.)
หายแว๊บไปแล้ว (ไม่ปรากฏ)

prefix ตัวนี้มันร้ายครับ มันผันตัวเองไปเป็น noun (ex) เมื่อไหร่ไม่รู้ แต่จะแปลว่า อดีตคนรัก (ที่เคยแต่งงานแล้ว) หรือแฟนเก่าได้ทันที! ใช้แบบไม่เป็นทางการเท่าไหร่ (ex. Last year at Paris, I saw my ex. – -”)

ex-husband / ex -wife (n.) เมื่อใส่ ex- ไปแล้ว กลายเป็นอดีตสามี หรืออดีตภรรยา ไปเลยครับ

[Ex-] = Former อดีตที่แสนหอมหวาน โฮ่ๆๆ

dis + arm =(v.) Because of the last-year accident, his arm has been disfigured.)dis + grace =(n./v.)grace

in + accessible = inaccessible (adj.) access (v.) คือ “เข้าถึง” ครับ accessible (adj.) เป็นรูปคำคุณศัพท์ของเจ้าตัวนี้ เจอพี่ in- มาอยู่ข้างหน้า เลยแปลว่า “เข้าไม่ถึง” หรือ “ไม่สามารถเข้าถึงได้” ว๊า แย่จัง..

im + possible = impossible (adj.) โอ้วว คำนี้ยอดฮิตเลยนะเนี่ย possible = เป็นไปได้ครับ impossible ก็ เป็นไปไม่ได้น่ะสิ (ดึม ดึม ดือ ดื๊อ ดึม ดึม) เปิดเพลงประกอบ Mission Impossible 😛

ไอ้หนู: เบาะแบะๆ บลาๆๆ งุงิๆ
ยาย: So illiterate…

ir + regular = irregular (adj.)
regular แปลว่า ปกติ สม่ำเสมอ ครับ พอใส่ prfix ตัวนี้เข้าไปก็เลยแปลว่า ผิดปกติ

ถ้าใครจำ Verb ในภาษาอังกฤษได้ว่า verb จะสามารถแบ่งเป็น
กลุ่มปกติ (เพราะเติม -ed) กับกลุ่มไม่ปกติ (เพราะเปลี่ยนรูป)

1. regular verbs: walk walked walked / study studied studied
2. irregular verbs: go went gone / drink drank drunk

ir + rensponsible = irresponsible (adj.)
responsible เฉยๆ แปลว่า รับผิดชอบครับ irresponsible ก็คือ ขาดความรับผิดชอบ

ir + relevant = irrelevant (adj.)
ถ้าใครรู้จักคำว่า relate (v.) ก็น่าจะเดาคำนี้ได้นะครับ relate แปลว่าเกี่ยวข้อง
คำว่า relative (n.) แปลว่า ญาติๆของเรา (คนที่เกี่ยวของกับเรา)
relevant (adj.) ก็แปลว่า เกี่ยวข้อง ครับ
งานนี้ irrelevant ใครไม่เกี่ยวก็ถอยปายยย…

. . .

[sub-] อยู่ข้างล่างโน๊นนน

submarine (n.)
คำนี้มาจาก marine (adj.) แปลว่า เกี่ยวกับทะเล
submarine ก็เลยเป็น เรือดำน้ำครับ

subway (n.)
way คือ เส้นทาง ทางเดิน ใช่มั้ยครับ
subway ก็ลงไปอยู่ใต้ทางเดิน –> รถไฟใต้ดิน นั่นเอง
(ในอังกฤษจะเรียกรถไฟใต้ดินว่า The underground ครับ)

sub-standard (adj.)
ต่ำกว่ามาตรฐาน ไม่ผ่านนะเนี่ยยยย Frown

subtitles (n.)
title คือหัวข้อเรื่อง ใส่ sub- เข้าไปก็เลยกลายเป็น คำบรรยายที่อยู่ด้านล่าง
ในภาพยนตร์ต่างประเทศต่างๆครับ
(ใครอยากเก่งภาษา ต้องเปิด soundtrack: English กับ Subtitles: English นะครับ อิๆ)

submerge (v.)
คำนี้ไม่ต้องแยกอีกเช่นกัน มันมาด้วยกันครับ
แต่มี prefix sub- แฝงอยู่ เลยให้ความหมายไปในเชิง under, below ครับ
คำนี้เลยแปลว่า จมน้ำ อยู่ใต้น้ำ ด้วยประการฉะนี้

. . .

[re-] อีกทีได้ป๊ะ ?!?

re + view = review (n./v.)
view = มุมมอง review ก็ประมาณ มองดูอีกครั้ง
แปลว่า ทบทวน หรือ ตรวจสอบ บางอย่าง ครับ

re + assure = reassure (v.)
คำว่า assure (v.) เอง มาจาก sure ครับ แปลว่า ทำให้มั่นใจ
นี่ถ้ายังไม่มั่นใจอีก สงสัยต้อง reassure ซ้ำอีกครั้ง

re + birth = rebirth (n.)
อืมม.. คำนี้ไม่ได้แปลว่า เกิดใหม่ นะครับ ฮาา
มันจะแปลว่า อะไรที่เปลี่ยนใหม่ ทำใหม่ ดีขึ้น ราวกับได้เกิดใหม่ปานนั้น

re + chargeable = rechargeable (adj.)
มาจาก charge ที่แปลว่า ชาร์จ (แบต) นั่นแหละครับ
charge + able เป็น suffix (ซึ่งผมจะพูดถึงในตอนหน้าครับ) กลายเป็น adj.
แปลได้ว่า สามารถนำไปชาร์จได้
พอใส่ prefix re- เข้าไปอีก ยิ่งเมพครับ คือชาร์จได้เรื่อยๆ
(ex. Do you have any rechargeable battery?)

re + define = redefine (v.)
define คือ ให้ความหมาย ให้คำนิยามครับ มาจาก definition (n.)
เพราะฉะนั้น การ redefine บางอย่าง คือการให้คำจำกัดความใหม่
อาจจะใช้กับอะไรที่มันเดิมๆ น่าเบื่อๆ แล้วเราเอามาทำใหม่ให้ดูน่าสนใจขึ้น

re + produce = reproduce (v.)
produce แน่นอนครับ แปลว่า ผลิต reproduce ก็เลยมีความหมายไปในเชิงที่ว่า
ทำซ้ำ ทำสำเนาเพิ่มขึ้น

. . .

[inter-] ระหว่างเธอกับฉัน ><

inter + national = international (adj.)

inter + active = interactive (adj.)
อะไรก็ตามที่ active ก็คือ ตื่นตัว ทีนี้ คนเดียวไม่พอสิครับ มันต้องแบ่งๆกัน
interactive ก็เลยหมายถึง มีการสื่อสารกันสองทาง
อย่างเช่นโปรแกรมบางอย่าง ที่เราสามารถป้อนคำสั่งต่างๆเข้าไป และตอบสนอง
กับโปรแกรมนั้นได้ครับ

interview (n./v.)
เราใช้กันบ่อยมากๆครับ คำนี้มี prefix inter- แฝงตัวอยู่
การสัมภาษณ์ก็คือ การพูดคุย”ระหว่าง”คนสองคน (ขึ้นไป) ครับ

intermediate (n./adj.)
การแบ่งผู้เรียนออกเป็นระดับต่างๆ ก็มักจะใช้คำนี้ครับ
intermediate คือคนที่อยู่ระดับกลางๆ
คืออยู่ ระหว่าง beginner กับ advanced นั่นเอง

. . .

[pre-] มาก่อน ได้ก่อน

pre + caution = precaution (n.)
ใครเคยเจอป้าย แล้วเขียนว่า caution หรือ warning มั้ยครับ
ทั้งสองคำหมายถึง การระมัดระวัง คำเตือน (ถึงอันตรายต่างๆ)
precaution ก็คือ การป้องกันไว้ก่อน (ดีกว่ามาแก้ภายหลัง) win เลยคำนี้

predecessor (n.)
คำนี้มี prefix pre- แอบอยู่ ให้ความหมายว่า ผู้ที่มาก่อน หรือมีอยู่ก่อนแล้ว
คู่แฝดของมันคือ *forerunner ครับ ความหมายเหมือนกันเลย

*prefix [fore-] ก็ให้ความหมายว่า “ก่อน” เหมือนกันครับ
อย่าง foretell –> fore + tell หรือ foresee –> fore + see แปลว่า ทำนาย
(เห็นก่อน บอกก่อน ฮ่าๆ แต่ถูกหรือเปล่านี่ อันนี้ ตัวใครตัวมันนะคร้าบบ)

pre + determiner = predeterminer (n.)
เข้าเรื่องไวยากรณ์นิดนึงครับ ในภาษาอังกฤษ เราจะมี determiner(s) คำนำหน้านามต่างๆ
อย่างเช่น articles: a, an, the นี่ก็ใช่ครับ หรือ demonstratives: this, that, these, those
นี่ก็ด้วย เพราะฉะนั้น predeterminer คือคำที่มันมาแรงมากกกก
มันมา”ก่อน” คำนำหน้านามอีก ตัวอย่าง คำว่า “all” คำนี้

(ex. All the time he keeps annoying me!)

predict (v.) / predictable (adj.) / prediction (n.)
คำนี้รากเดิมคือคำว่า dict แปลว่าพูดครับ ปัจจุบันมีคำว่า
dictate (v.) = เขียนตามที่พูด
dictation (n.) = การเขียนตามคำบอก
predict  บอกก่อนล่วงหน้า เลยแปลได้ว่า = ทำนายทายทัก นั่นเองครับ
(ญาติๆของคำนี้ผมก็ยกตัวอย่างไปข้างบนแล้ว คือ foretell กับ foresee นะจ๊ะ) ^^

pre + historic = prehistoric (adj.)
pre + history = prehistory (n.)
สองคำนี้ต่างกันนิดเดียวครับ คำแรก prehistoric จะใช้ขยายสิ่งของ/คนหรืออะไร
ก็ตามที่เกิด “ก่อน” ประวัติศาสตร์ครับ
ส่วน prehistory คือช่วงเวลาก่อนจะมีประวัติศาสตร์เกิดขึ้น

(ex. During prehistory, this prehistoric temple was partially destroyed.

Indefinite pronoun

Indefinite pronoun มีคำว่าอะไรบ้าง

คำตระกูล every-
Everybody, everyone, everything, everywhere

คำตระกูล some-
Somebody, someone, something, somewhere, some

คำตระกูล any-
Anybody, anyone, anything, anywhere, any

คำปฏิเสธ
Nobody, no one, nothing, neither, none

คำอื่นๆ
Another, other, each, one, both, either, little, few, much, many, most, more

ในการกล่าวรวมสิ่งใดทั้งหมด เราจะใช้คำว่า everyone, everybody, everything, everywhere, both และ all

Everyone/everybody is checking their phones.
ทุกคนกำลังเช็คโทรศัพท์ของตัวเอง

Everything แปลว่า “ทุกสิ่ง, ทุกอย่าง” เป็นเอกพจน์

Everything is possible.
ทุกอย่างนั้นเป็นไปได้

Everywhere แปลว่า “ทุกที่” เป็นเอกพจน์

Everywhere is a runway.
ทุกๆที่ถือเป็นรันเวย์

Both แปลว่า “ทั้งคู่” เป็นพหูพจน์

Both are correct.
ถูกทั้งคู่

All แปลว่า “ทั้งหมด” เป็นได้ทั้งเอกพจน์และพหูพจน์
เราจะใช้ all เป็นเอกพจน์ เมื่อกล่าวถึงสิ่งใดโดยรวม
เราจะใช้ all เป็นพหูพจน์ เมื่อกล่าวถึงทุกคนหรือทุกสิ่งในกลุ่ม

Is everything okay?
ทุกอย่างโอเคดีมั้ย
All is well.
ทุกอย่างโอเคดี
(โดยรวมแล้ว ทุกอย่างโอเคดี)

How are your kids?
ลูกๆคุณเป็นยังไงบ้าง
All are well.
ทุกคนโอเคดี
(กล่าวถึงลูกทุกคนว่าสบายดี)

2. ใช้กล่าวถึงแค่บางสิ่ง

ในการกล่าวถึงบางสิ่ง เราจะใช้ someone, somebody, something, somewhere และ some

Someone และ somebody แปลว่า “บางคน” เป็นเอกพจน์

Someone/somebody is waiting for you.
มีใครบางคนรอคุณอยู่

Something แปลว่า “บางสิ่ง, บางอย่าง” เป็นเอกพจน์

Something makes me sad.
บางสิ่งทำให้ฉันรู้สึกเศร้า

Somewhere แปลว่า “บางที่” เป็นเอกพจน์

Somewhere up ahead is a sharp turn.
ข้างหน้าซักที่จะเป็นจุดหักเลี้ยว

Some แปลว่า “บางส่วน, จำนวนหนึ่ง” เป็นได้ทั้งเอกพจน์และพหูพจน์

อาหารสัตว์ส่วนใหญ่มาจากพืช แต่บางส่วนก็มาจากสัตว์

Most apples here are red, but some are green.
แอปเปิลที่นี่ส่วนใหญ่มีสีแดง แต่บางส่วนก็มีสีเขียว

3. ใช้สื่อว่าสิ่งใดก็ได้

ในการสื่อว่าสิ่งใดก็ได้ เราจะใช้ anyone, anybody, anything, anywhere และ any

Anyone และ anybody แปลว่า “ใครๆ, ใครก็ตาม” เป็นเอกพจน์

Anyone/anybody is welcome.
ไม่ว่าจะเป็นใครก็ยินดีต้อนรับ

Anything แปลว่า “สิ่งใด, อะไรก็ตาม” เป็นเอกพจน์

Anything is possible.
อะไรก็เป็นไปได้

Anywhere แปลว่า “ที่ใด, ที่ไหนก็ตาม” เป็นเอกพจน์

ฉันมองหาปากกา แต่มันไม่มีเลย

4. ใช้บอกว่าไม่มี

ในการบอกว่าไม่มี เราจะใช้ no one, nobody, nothing, neither และ none

No one และ nobody แปลว่า “ไม่มีใคร” เป็นเอกพจน์

Nobody want to be lonely.
ไม่มีใครอยากโดดเดี่ยว

No one want to be lonely.
ไม่มีใครอยากโดดเดี่ยว

Nothing แปลว่า “ไม่มีสิ่งใด” เป็นเอกพจน์

Nothing is impossible.

See you next time

English Grammar: The Prepositions ON, AT, IN, BY

English for Beginners: Prepositions are short words that help us express location, time, and other relationships between people and things. Some examples of prepositions are: on, at, in, and by. Do you know how to use them? For example, do we say, \”I am on a taxi\” or \”in a taxi\”? Do you like to travel \”in a plane\” or \”by plane\”? After watching this simple but useful lesson, you will know exactly which preposition to use in any situation.

TRANSCRIPT
I’m having a hard time reading on the train right now. Unh. Hold on. I’ll start the lesson.
Hi. James from engVid. Sorry, I was on the train. I want to teach you a lesson about four basic prepositions that we use in English that sometimes get confused, and I understand why, so I’ll keep it basic. But because it’s basic, it’s going to be 80% correct. That’s a good thing, that means you can go to the website and learn more from other lessons we have. But just know that sometimes there’ll be exceptions, and I may not cover it here today. I’ll even give you two exceptions to help you, but why waste time? Let’s go to the board.
Here’s Mr. E. You’ll notice he has a calendar, he has a clock, and: \”You are here\”? Oh, here. \”Here\” is a location. We’re here right now, doing a lesson. That’s the location: engVid. Let’s go to the board and do the rest of the lesson, shall we?
Here’s: \”at\”, \”on\”, \”in\”, and \”by\”. \”At\”. I love it because it’s very specific, so you always know where you are, exactly. Problem: For transportation, \”at\” doesn’t have anything. Hmm. So let’s go to the next one. Let’s go to \”on\”. On. \”On\” is used for, let’s say, large vehicles or large ways of travelling, such as buses… Sorry. Trains, buses, planes, and boats. I’ll come back to boat in a second; it’s an exception. On the train, on the bus, and on the plane, unless you’re Bill Gates, Donald Trump, or meI’m not in that listyou don’t have your own train, plane, or bus, so you usually share it with a bunch of people or a few people. It’s large. So we say: \”You’re on the bus\”, because it covers a big area, so there are many people sitting in that area. When I get to location, you’ll see what I mean.
Boat is a small exception. For many people in the world, they have their own boats because maybe they do fishing, or rowing, which is a type of boat that you go by yourself. In that situation, you can use \”in\”. So, if the boat is small enough, say: \”in\”: \”I’m in a boat right now.\” But if it’s a big boat, you have to say: \”I’m on a boat.\” Another exception for the \”on\” rule is bicycle. You’re always \”on\” a bicycle. I know, I said big vehicles, but remember: a bicycle is small, and it doesn’t really have a motor or an engine, so we kind of give it its own thing, because you have to sit on the bicycle, and you can never really be in a bicycle. Is that good?
Now, let’s go to \”in\”. \”In\” is funny because there are only two things for \”in\”. \”In\” we use for car and taxi. The easy way to think about it is usually you own your own car; it doesn’t belong to a group of people. People just don’t get on your car every time you stop it, they go in and say: \”Take me somewhere.\” And a taxi, well, when you’re in a taxi, it is kind of your car. You pay the driver and you keep the car. So, this is one of those few cases where, because it belongs to me, I am in my car or I am in the taxi, because the taxi belongs to me as long as I pay the money. It’s one of these funny exceptions. I don’t know why, because you can put more people in a car, but I guess because you can actually own this transportation, it’s yours. Think of it like the small boat. The small boat, one person is in it, you can be inside of it. All right? Cool.
The last one we’re going to do is \”by\”. This is how you get there. So, \”by\” is different. When we talk about \”in\” and \”on\”, you are… We are talking about how you are in the vehicle. Are you sitting on the bicycle? I can see you on it? You know, a boat is on water. But \”by\” just means: How did you get here? So, when someone responds to you with: \”By car\”, \”by plane\”, they’re telling you how they got here. Not if they’re in the plane, or on the plane. They are just… That’s how they got there. So, how did I get here to do this video? Wouldn’t you like to know. I’m kidding. I came here by car. So, yes, I was in my car and drove here, but I would tell somebody: \”I got here by car, not by bus\”, and that would tell them the difference in the transportation I took. \”How did you get here?\” You like that? Good, so that’s \”by\”, this is how you did it; and the way you travelled is here, \”in\” and \”on\”. Remember there is a small exception for small vehicles, so a small boat you can be in. Remember small. And a bicycle, you’re always on the bicycle, because people see you sitting on it. We good? Excellent. Now, that is the lesson for transportation.
