Passive Voice is used when the focus is on the action, and not on the person who does it. Learn how to use it correctly in more tenses in this video. There are many examples that will make it easy for you to understand.

Active
Affirmative: (Subject + verb (past simple form) + object
Example: (Maya bought some dresses.)
00:54 to 01:21
Negative: (Subject + didn’t + verb (base form or infinitive) + object
(Subject + wasn’t / weren’t + adjective
Examples: (Jack didn’t play tennis last Friday.) (Jack wasn’t happy)

Passive
Affirmative: (Object + was / were + past participle
Example: (Some dresses are bought (by Maya).)
01:39 to 01:54
Negative: (Object + wasn’t / weren’t + past participle .. .
Example: (Tennis wasn’t played (by Jack) last Friday.)

Interrogative
Active (Yes and No questions) Did + subject + verb (base form / infinitive) + ..?
Example: (Did Noha drink tea?)

Wh question (Wh question word + did + subject + verb (base form / infinitive) + ..?)

Passive
Yes and No question: (Was / Were + object + past participle + (by subject)?)

Uses of the past simple
1 Actions that started and finished in the past.
Example: (President Sadat decided to fight Israel in October 1973.
2 To narrate actions that happened completely in the past.
Example: (Yesterday. We did our homework. Then we went to the club.)
3 In the second conditional.
Example: (If I had time. I’d prepare lunch.)

Notes: (Used to + infinitive) To talk about past actions that we don’t do at present.)
Example: (When I was young. I used to spend the weekend with my grandmother.)
Notes: We use the two following structures (To talk about repeated actions / habits in the past)
1 Was / Were + used to + noun / infinitive + ing.
Example: (They were used to playing football in the street.)
2 Got / Became + used to + noun / infinitive + ing
Examples: (Michael got used to the cold weather of Europe.)
(I became used to living in the desert.)
Notes: We use (didn’t + have) As the negative form of (had).
Examples: (I hadn’t milk for breakfast.) X
(I didn’t have milk for breakfast.) ✔
Notes: We use (Did + subject + have) As the question form of (had).
Examples: (Had you a party yesterday?) X
(Did you have a party yesterday?)
Notes: We use (did + base form) To confirm the intention of the subject to do something.
Example: (Hana did want to go to the cinema, but she had to look after her baby brother.)
Notes: We use the past simple tense after the following expressions.
(I wish / It’s high time / I’d rather) To talk about actions / verbs that didn’t happened in the past)
Examples: (I wish I were an engineer.) (I don’t earn enough money as an accountant.)
(It’s time you sent the email.) (I don’t know why you haven’t sent it yet)
Notes: We use the past perfect tense after the previous expressions.
If there is a past time reference such as (yesterday / last\” night, year month \u0026 etc.0
Example: (I wish I had taken a nap yesterday.)

En este video aprenderás a diferenciar la voz activa de la voz pasiva, identificar las características de cada una de ellas y lo que debes tener presente a la hora de pasar una oración de VOZ ACTIVA a VOZ PASIVA y viceversa.
Esta forma gramatical puede ser bastante confusa para la mayoría de estudiantes y más aún si son principiantes en el aprendizaje de la lengua, ya que requiere conocer los diferentes tiempos gramaticales y un amplio vocabulario de verbos, regulares e irregulares.
Sin embargo, lo anterior no será muy difícil si sigues las indicaciones que te daré a continuación y practicas los suficiente.
