Verb (คำกริยา) ในภาษาอังกฤษมีหลายรูป ซึ่งแต่ละรูปก็จะมีเงื่อนไขการใช้ที่ต่างกัน ยกตัวอย่างเช่นคำว่า eat ที่แปลว่า “กิน” เมื่อเราใช้ในประโยคที่เป็น past simple tense เราจะต้องใช้ ate แทน
สำหรับใครที่ยังไม่ค่อยแม่นเรื่องรูปคำกริยา หรือที่เรียกว่า verb forms ในภาษาอังกฤษ ในบทความนี้ ชิววี่ก็ได้เรียบเรียงมาให้ได้เรียนรู้กันแบบง่ายๆแล้ว เอาล่ะ ถ้าเพื่อนๆพร้อมแล้ว เราไปดูกันเลย

Verb forms คืออะไร
Verb forms คือรูปของคำกริยาในภาษาอังกฤษ ซึ่งจะแบ่งได้เป็น 5 รูป คือ
- Base form (verb ช่อง 1) เช่น eat, take, go
- -s form เช่น eats, takes, goes
- -ing form เช่น eating, taking, going
- Past form (verb ช่อง 2) เช่น ate, took, went
- Past participle form (verb ช่อง 3) เช่น eaten, taken, gone
การใช้ verb forms แต่ละรูป
Verb forms แต่ละรูปจะมีเงื่อนไขการใช้ที่ต่างกัน ซึ่งก็คือ
1. Base form
(มีชื่อเรียกอื่นว่า simple form, v1, verb ช่อง 1, คำกริยาช่อง 1, คำกริยารูปพหูพจน์)
เช่นคำว่า do, drive, swim, write
เราจะใช้ base form เมื่อประโยคเป็น present simple tense และมีประธานเป็นพหูพจน์, I หรือ you
They live together.
พวกเขาอาศัยอยู่ด้วยกัน
Many students are foreigners.
นักเรียนหลายคนเป็นชาวต่างชาติ
เมื่อใช้ตามหลัง modal verb (เช่น can, could, will, would, may, might)
He can swim.

I will do my homework tomorrow.

2. -s form
(มีชื่อเรียกอื่นว่า third person singular form, คำกริยารูปเอกพจน์)
เช่นคำว่า does, drives, swims, writes
เราจะใช้ -s form เมื่อประโยคเป็น present simple tense และมีประธานเป็นเอกพจน์
He swims every day.
เขาว่ายน้ำทุกวัน
My car is black.
รถของฉันมีสีดำ
3. -ing form
(มีชื่อเรียกอื่นว่า present participle form)
เช่นคำว่า doing, driving, swimming, writing
เราจะใช้ -ing form เมื่อประโยคเป็น continuous tense
John is doing his homework right now.
ตอนนี้จอห์นกำลังทำการบ้านอยู่
My dad was sleeping when I arrived.
พ่อของฉันกำลังหลับอยู่ตอนที่ฉันมาถึง
เมื่อใช้เป็น gerund (verb รูป -ing ที่ใช้เป็นคำนาม)
Reading is essential.
การอ่านเป็นสิ่งสำคัญ
You should avoid eating sugar.
คุณควรหลีกเลี่ยงการกินน้ำตาล

4. Past form
(มีชื่อเรียกอื่นว่า v2, verb ช่อง 2, คำกริยาช่อง 2)
เช่นคำว่า did, drove, swam, wrote
เราจะใช้ past form เมื่อประโยคเป็น past simple tense
Tom bought a new phone last week.
ทอมซื้อโทรศัพท์ใหม่เมื่อสัปดาห์ก่อน
They went to school together yesterday.
พวกเขาไปโรงเรียนด้วยกันเมื่อวานนี้
5. Past participle form
(มีชื่อเรียกอื่นว่า v3, verb ช่อง 3, คำกริยาช่อง 3)
เช่นคำว่า done, driven, swum, written
ข้อควรรู้
Verb หลายๆตัวจะมี verb ช่อง 2 และ 3 เหมือนกัน ยกตัวอย่างเช่นคำว่า asked, called, worked, paid
เราจะใช้ past participle form เมื่อประโยคเป็น perfect tense
I have eaten lunch already.
ฉันกินอาหารเที่ยงแล้ว
Jim has worked here since he graduated.
จิมทำงานที่นี้ตั้งแต่หลังเรียนจบ
เมื่อใช้ passive voice (รูปประโยคที่ประธานเป็นผู้ถูกกระทำ)
We are paid daily.
พวกเราได้รับการจ่ายเงินทุกวัน
This book was written by my aunt.
หนังสือเล่มนี้ถูกเขียนโดยป้าของฉัน
หรือเมื่อใช้เป็น adjective (verb ช่อง 3 สามารถใช้เป็น adjective ได้ด้วย โดยจะมีความหมายในเชิงผู้ถูกกระทำ)
I love fried chicken.
ฉันชอบไก่ทอด
There is a broken car there.
มีรถเสียอยู่ตรงนั้น
