Not yet là gì?
Trong Tiếng Anh cùng với Still not và Never thì Not yet cũng làm nhiều bạn khó khăn trong việc sử dụng. Để nắm được cách sử dụng của not yet trước hết bạn phải hiểu not yet là gì? Nó là một từ rất thường gặp trong Tiếng Anh. Not yet có nghĩa là chưa hoặc còn chưa.
Ví dụ minh họa:
The banana is not yet ripe. (Trái chuối vẫn chưa chín)
She’s not ready yet. (Cô ấy vẫn chưa sẵn sàng)

Chẳng hạn:
- Have you eaten? Not yet.
- Are you ready? Not yet!
Đặc biệt hơn trong câu hỏi và câu trả lời. Thì khi sử dụng từ “not yet” sẽ trở thành dạng rút gọn của have not hoặc has not. “Yet” sẽ được đặt ở cuối câu.

Cách dùng từ Still not
Still not bên cạnh Not yet cũng được sử dụng trong câu hỏi và cả câu phủ định. Tuy nhiên nó được nhấn mạnh ý “vẫn chưa” hoàn thành hơn là “Not yet”. Nó đồng thời thể hiện ý ngạc nhiên hơn hoặc mất kiên nhẫn hơn. “Still” được đặt trước “have/has”.

They still haven’t seen the film. (Họ vẫn chưa xem bộ phim)

Cách dùng từ Never
Từ “Never” được dùng trong câu nhằm diễn tả khi bạn nói về một điều gì đó chưa từng xảy ra ở trước đây. Lưu ý là không dùng “never” chung với “not”. Từ “Never” này được đặt sau “have/has”. Bên cạnh đó “never” cũng có thể được dùng ở thì hiện tại và thì quá khứ đơn.
Ví dụ:
They have never watched that film. (Họ chưa bao giờ xem bộ phim này)
He has never been to Russia. (Anh ấy chưa bao giờ đến Nga)

The phrase ‘have yet to‘ can be confusing! The present perfect tense in English can be difficult at the best of times, and this phrase is another challenge for English learners.
A student came to see me the other day with a letter that he couldn’t understand. He had applied for a postgraduate course in another university and he had sent his transcript to the university admissions office. He inquired about the progress of his application and they sent him a letter. One part of the letter said:
We have yet to receive your transcript.
So the student asked me “What does it mean? Have they got it or not?”
Answer: “No, they haven’t!”
We have yet to receive your transcript
This is formal English. It is used in formal situations, and is much less common in casual spoken English. Here are some more examples below, click on the sentence for some comments on each one.

I think that this phrase is one which you should learn to recognise when you see it, but I suggest that you don’t worry too much about producing it yourself. It is very formal and although it can be useful in academic writing, you will be able to write very successfully without ever using it. The key to successful academic writing is clarity and you can clearly convey your meaning without specific use of this particular phrase.
