ประโยคคำถามในภาษาอังกฤษมีโครงสร้างที่ไม่เหมือนประโยคบอกเล่า ดังนั้นเวลาจะพูดหรือจะเขียนแต่ละทีต้องมานั่งนึกว่าอะไรมาก่อนมาหลัง ประธาน กริยา กรรม วางยังไง ประโยคคำถามในภาษาอังกฤษมี 2 ประเภท คือ
1. Yes/No Question
2. Wh-Question
1. Yes/No Question – เหตุใดจึงเรียกว่าเป็นคำถามแบบ yes/no question? ก็เพราะมันเป็นคำถามแบบที่ต้องตอบว่า yes หรือ no หลักการง่ายๆในการสร้างประโยคคำถามแบบนี้คือ เอากริยาช่วย (Helping verb) มาขึ้นต้นประโยค ไม่ว่าในประโยคนั้นจะมีกริยาช่วยอะไรเอามันมาไว้ข้างหน้าประโยคก่อนเลย แล้วที่เหลือก็เรียงประธานและกริยาแท้ตามลำดับ จบท้ายด้วย question mark (?)
กริยาช่วย + ประธาน + กริยาแท้……..?
หลักการนี้สามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ได้กับทุก Tense เช่น Continuous tense ก็จะมี Verb to be เป็นกริยาช่วย
- Is mom cooking dinner? (present continuous tense)
- Are you wearing sunglasses? (present continuous tense)
- Was she working when you came? (past continuous tense)
หรือ perfect tense ก็จะมี verb to have เป็นกริยาช่วย
- Have you ever been to Korea? (Present perfect tense)
- Had she called you before she left for Tokyo? (Past perfect tense)
แต่สำหรับ simple tense นั้น ในประโยคบอกเล่าจะไม่ปรากฏกริยาช่วยใดๆ แล้วจะหากริยาช่วยได้จากที่ไหน? Tense นี้มีความพิเศษหน่อยคือจะเอา Verb to do เข้ามาช่วย ฉะนั้นเวลาตั้งเป็นคำถามก็ต้องเอา verb to do (do, does, did) ขึ้นต้น ถ้าเป็น present tense ก็ใช้ do, does แต่ถ้าเป็น past tense ก็ใช้ did เช่น
- Do they take writing course this semester?
- Does she work as an assistant of Prof. Harisson?
- Did he go with you last night?
คำถามแบบ Yes/No question แน่นอนว่า เวลาตอบก็ต้องตอบ yes หรือ no เช่น
- Have they broken the window?
- Yes, they have. (ย่อมาจาก Yes, they have broken the window.)
- No, they haven’t. (ย่อมาจาก No, they haven’t broken the window.)
หรือในบางประโยคที่ตอง No ก็อาจจะพูดประโยคที่ถูกต้องไปเลยก็ได้ เช่น
- Are you Matt? No, I’m Martin.
** หลักการง่ายๆในการตอบแบบสั้นคือ ให้ตอบ Yes หรือ No แล้วตามด้วยสรรพนามที่แทนประธานในประโยคคำถาม แล้วตามด้วยกริยาช่วยและถ้าคำตอบเป็น No ก็เติม not ไปที่หลังกริยาช่วย เช่น
- Are the students wearing the scout uniform?
- Yes, they are. / No, they aren’t.
- Does she like eating spaghetti?
- Yes, she does. / No, she doesn’t.
2. Wh-quesiton – คือคำถามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย Wh-question words (What, When, Where, Why, Whose, Who, Which และ ตระกูล How เช่น How old, How long, How much, How many, etc.) ประโยคคำถามแบบ Wh-question นี้ จะเป็นการถามเพื่อขอข้อมูล
โครงสร้างประโยคก็เหมือน Yes/No question เพียงแต่วาง Wh-question ไว้ข้างหน้าสุด หน้ากริยาช่วย แล้วตามด้วยประธานและกริยาหลัก ตามลำดับ
Wh-question + กริยาช่วย + ประธาน + กริยาแท้….?
ตัวอย่างประโยคคำถามแบบนี้คือ
- Where does your brother work?
- What have you done these days?
- How long will you stay here?
- What movie were you watching last night when I called?
มีข้อควรระวังและข้อเสนอแนะอยู่สองสามข้อในการสร้างประโยคคำถามคือ ประโยคคำถามที่มี do/does/did เป็นกริยาช่วยนั้น กริยาแท้ที่ตามมาในประโยคจะต้องเป็นรูป base form คือรูปธรรมดา ไม่ผัน ไม่เติม s/es และอีกข้อหนึ่งคือ Wh-question words ใดที่ต้องมีนามตามมาด้วย เช่นในความหมายว่า หนังสืออะไร หนังสือของใคร หนังสือเล่มไหน ให้วางนามต่อท้าย Wh-question words นั้นได้เลย เช่น what book, whose book, which book แล้วค่อยตามด้วยโครงสร้างที่เหลือ เช่น
- What book are you reading?

ในการสนทนาภาษาอังกฤษ เวลาที่เราอยากจะถามข้อมูลใครในเรื่องต่าง ๆ ประโยคคำถามนั้นก็มักจะหนีไม่พ้นการเริ่มด้วย WH question หรือคำที่เริ่มด้วย WH ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วย What / When / Where / Why / Who / Whom / Which / Whose และ How นั่นเองค่ะ เรามาเรียนรู้ความต่างของแต่ละคำ และการใช้งานกันเลยดีกว่า
What = อะไร จะใช้เวลาถามถึงสิ่งของ หรือ ข้อมูลอะไรบางอย่าง
Ex. What would you like for lunch?
(เธออยากกินอะไรเป็นมื้อกลางวัน)
Ex. What did you just say?
(เธอพูดอะไรนะเมื่อกี้)
When = เมื่อไหร่ จะใช้เวลาถามถึงเวลาว่าสิ่งนั้นเกิดขึ้นเมื่อไหร่ (ได้ทั้งในอดีตและอนาคต)
Ex. When did you arrive?
(เธอมาถึงเมื่อไหร่)
Ex. When will the show start?
(เมื่อไหร่โชว์จะเริ่ม)
Where = ที่ไหน จะใช้เวลาถามถึงสถานที่
Ex. Where have you been?
(เธอไปที่ไหนมา)
Ex. Where should we go for our next trip?
(ทริปหน้าของพวกเราไปไหนกันดี)
Why = ทำไม ใช้ถามถึงสาเหตุว่าทำไมถึงทำแบบนั้น
Ex. Why did you do this to me?
(ทำไมเธอถึงทำกับฉันแบบนี้)
Ex. Why on earth did you do that?
(ทำไมเธอถึงทำอะไร (บ้าๆ) แบบนั้น)
*on earth ในที่นี้มักใช้ในแง่ไม่ดี ที่ผู้ถามรู้สึกว่าการกระทำนั้นมันแย่มากๆ หรือไร้เหตุผลสุดๆ
Who = ใคร
Ex. Who is that?
(นั่นใครน่ะ)
Ex. Who called you last night?
(ใครโทรมาหาเธอเมื่อคืน)
Whom = ใคร
ความต่างกับ who คือ whom จะใช้ในการถามถึงคนที่เป็น ประธานที่ 2 ในประโยคนั้น หรือเป็น object to verb ที่ประธานที่ 1 ทำนั่นเองค่ะ
Ex. Whom did you see in the park?
(เธอเห็นใครในสวนน่ะ)
*ประธาน 1 คือ You เห็นประธาน 2 คือ whom
Ex. Whom was Jack talking to?
(แจ็คกำลังคุยกับใคร)
*ประธาน 1 คือ Jack เห็นประธาน 2 คือ whom
ในความเป็นจริงแล้ว ปกติฝรั่งเองก็ใช้ who ในประโยคลักษณะนี้กันค่ะ ซึ่งฟังได้รู้เรื่อง ไม่ได้ผิดหลักแกรมมาร์ร้ายแรงอะไร แต่ถ้าเป็นการเขียนบทความเป็นทางการ ก็จะใช้ให้ถูกต้องดีกว่าค่ะ
Whose = ของใคร คือการแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของของสิ่งๆ นั้น
Ex. Whose book is this?
(หนังสือนี่ของใคร)
Ex. Whose keys?
(กุญแจของใคร)
Which = อันไหน สิ่งไหน คือให้เลือกจากสิ่งที่มีอยู่
Ex. Which one would you like to drink?
(เธอจะดื่มเครื่องดื่มตัวไหนดี)
Ex. Which one do you choose?
(เธอจะเลือกอันไหนดี)
How = อย่างไร ถามถึงหลักการใช้งาน วิธีการทำอะไรบางอย่าง หรือลักษณะ สภาพของสิ่งๆ นั้น
Ex. How can we get out of this maze?
(พวกเราจะออกจากเขาวงกตนี้ไปยังไง)
Ex. How is the movie?
(หนังเป็นอย่างไรบ้าง)

How battery capacity is measured and what is Wh? (Watt Hour)
The most important measure of a battery is how much power you can get out of it on a regular basis. That number is represented by WattHour or Wh. Not Amp Hour or even Milliamp hour that most marketing people like to write in the ads and on the products, that is only part of the answer. (Also remember that older types of batteries, like lead batteries don’t survive long if you use more than half of what they contain.)
Let’s start by oversimplifying and looking at a battery like a box. You can add stuff, like charging a battery or you can take stuff out when you want to use it. Its capacity is its Volume which is equal to its Length time Width times depth. If any of these change then the total volume will change.
If we simplify a battery capacity we can use the same approach. You can see it as an energy box where the 3 important numbers can be seen as sides of a box. So we calculate the power capacity as Volts times Amps times hours equals capacity in WattHours.
You can use the numbers printed on a battery to calculate a number for its capacity in Wh if its not already there. Most of the time the Amp and the hour have already been multiplied so the equation is just Volts times Amp hour equals Watt hour. That is often what you find printed on a battery.
Unfortunately counting the battery capacity number this way is always too high because the reality is that the battery will always deliver less than this number for several reasons we will look at in the second half of the video. This is the number that the marketing department normally like to print in the specifications because it sound better that the number that you measure getting out of the battery bank.
Ok so let’s look a more nuanced view of the battery.
The first reason you don’t get as much power as the simplified calculation would suggest is that the Voltage decreases as the battery is being emptied. This can be accounted for if we imagine the container is not shaped like a box but more as a slanting wall. The volume or capacity will decrease.So due to this fact the battery can deliver 1025% less power than the simple estimation would suggest.
A second reason you get less power is if the battery has to convert its internal voltage level to another that is expected outside. This is the case for all USB power banks that are typically 34V internally and have to boost the voltage to 5V which USB requires. This leads to yet more loss of 515%.
A third reason for a battery delivering less than expected is when they are working at a high discharge rate. Then the voltage drops even more than normally and the hard work of the batteries causes them to lose energy as heat. In this case it is not unusual to only get 50% out of a battery. With the risk of shutdown due to overheating.
A fourth reason is aging or damaged batteries that do not have all their initial capacity left. When a battery can only reach 80% of the original capacity after fully charging a battery is considered spent, and you can assume that it will degrade fast after this point.
The only reliable way to know how much capacity a battery has is to measure it but that is for another video. For now remember to find out the theoretical Watt Hour capacity and know that the reality will be lower.
Here is an example of the capacity of two batteries
A cell phone on average has 10 watt hours battery capacity. If we let a lego block represent one watt hour it looks like this.
A Currentium Power Bank has a true measured output capacity of at least 65 watt hours when new. It looks like this. In marketing language it would be called a 20000 milliamp hour battery and the Watt hour rating would be higher but that number is not very useful unless you know how the rest of the battery performs.
With the real Watt hour capacity we know that this battery will give this phone over 6 full recharges. That is accurate information. Check out the Currentium home page for more about power banks and solar power.
