Model Answer (219 words)
The general overview here is that there are four indicators of economic and social conditions in four countries which are Canada, Japan, Peru, and Zaire, in 1994. The information reflects the great differences that exist between wealthier and poorer nations.

The table shows that Japan and Canada had annual incomes of $15,760 and $11,100 per person, respectively. These figures were overwhelmingly greater than the corresponding figures of $160 in Peru and $130 in Zaire.

Health indicators, too, reflected overall levels of affluence in the four nations. Life expectancy at birth, for example, was higher among the more economically developed countries. Japan reported the highest life expectancy, 78. This was followed by Canada, 76; Peru, 51; and Zaire, 47. This suggests that richer societies are able to put more money into health care than poorer ones. The number of calories consumed daily per person roughly followed the same ranking. Canadians each consumed some 3,326 calories per day while the Japanese took 2,846 calories. The corresponding figures for Peru and Zaire were 1,927 and 1,749, respectively.

Literacy rates among adults, too, were higher in wealthier countries, reflecting the ability to invest in education. Canada and Japan both reported literacy rates of 99%, while Peru claimed 68%. Zaire, the least economically developed of the four countries, had a literacy rate of 34%.

The chart below shows average prices per kilometre of clothing imported into the European Union from six different countries in 1993 and 2003 are shown in the bar chart below.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

You should write at least 150 words.

Model Answer (208 words)
The bar graph shows the average prices the European Union (EU) spent per kilometre clothing import from six different years in 1993 and 2003. It is obvious that the EU paid the highest amount for each kilometre to Argentina.

According to the illustration, the EU spent the highest amount for clothing import from Argentina which was approximately 28 pounds per kilometre in 1993. This rate was significantly higher; almost 9 times higher than the rate it gave to Bangladesh. The second and third highest rates were given to Brazil and Japan, roughly 23 and 15 pounds respectively. China and India got less than that, but still, their rates were higher than the import rate from Bangladesh. The latter received only around 3 pound per kilometre which was almost three times less than the rate paid to Japan.
The rate went higher in 2003 for China, India and Bangladesh which were the least paid countries in a decade earlier. The price for costume imported from Brazil remained unchanged while it slightly declined for Argentina and Japan. Despite the price changes, Argentina and Brazil were still paid higher than that of India and Bangladesh while China’s price went as high as 17 pounds, almost double than that of 1993’s rate.

The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category or exports in 2016 compared with 2015.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

You should write at least 150 words.

Model Answer (186 words)
The bar chart and table illustrate information about a country’s export earnings from five groups of products in 2015 and 2016.
It is noticeable that export revenues in all but one of the five product categories increased over the period shown. While petroleum products were the highest-earning exports in both years, the textile industry saw the most significant growth in earnings.

Export earnings from petroleum products rose from around $61 billion in 2015 to $63 billion in 2016, which was an increase of 3%. Income from engineered goods reached a similar level. The country’s export earnings from these goods went up by 8.5% to approximately $62 billion in 2016.
From 2015 to 2016, there was a 15.24% increase in export revenue from textiles, with earnings rising from roughly $25 billion to over $30 billion.
By contrast, there was almost no change in the amount of money earned from agricultural products, which remained at just over $30 billion.

Finally, the only decline in income occurred in the gems and jewellery product group, where export earnings fell by around 5% to approximately $40 billion in 2016.

The pie charts below show the online shopping sales for retail sectors in Australia in 2010 and 2015.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

You should write at least 150 words.

Model Answer (185 words)
The pie charts compare the online retail shopping trends in Australia in 2010 with that of 2015. Overall, electronic product, food and furniture comprised the highest percentage of online sales in Australia in both years.

According to the illustration, 27% online retail sale in Australia in 2010 was made by electric appliances, which was followed by home furnishing and food & beverage commerce with exactly 22 and 21 percent respectively. Video games purchased by Australian consumers comprised 19% of total online sales in this year. Finally, gift and book sales accounted for 7% and 4% online retail sales consecutively in 2010.

After half a decade, electric products’ sales increased by 5% and it comprised one-third of the total online sales in 2015. E-commerce of food & beverage items slightly increased while a nominal decrease could be observed in the trade ratio of furniture. Video games became less popular among Australian online consumers as its sale dropped below half while a surge could be noticed on the gift items’ sale ratio. Books as an online retail product were sold more in percentage in 2015 than that of 2010.

The diagrams below give information about the manufacture of frozen fish pies.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

You should write at least 150 words.

Model Answer (173 words)
The diagrams illustrate the ingredients that go into a factory-made fish pie and the various steps in its production.
The pie contains salmon, peas, sauce and potatoes, and there are ten stages in its manufacture, from delivery to dispatch. One of the ingredients, potato, goes through its own six-stage preparation process before it can be added to the pie.

Potatoes are the first ingredient to be prepared on the production line. They are delivered to the factory up to a month before the process begins, and they must be cleaned, peeled and sliced. Potato peelings are thrown away, and the sliced potatoes are boiled, then chilled and stored.

When fresh salmon arrives at the factory, lemon juice and salt are added, and the fish is cooked in a steam oven within 12 hours of delivery. Next, factory workers remove and dispose of the skin and bones, and the fish is inspected. Following an inspection, pre-prepared peas, sauce and potatoes are added. The resulting fish pies are wrapped, frozen and then stored or dispatched.
