IELTS Writing Test : It is the third part, the last part for morning session. You will need to write an essay with grammatically correct. Moreover, you need to best select suitable and perfect words for each sentence. You need to carefully consider your writing to get the score. There are 2 writing tasks.

Task 1: You will be given graphs or charts. You need to explain the information in these graphs or charts. The information must be well written and correct.

Task 2: You will be given a topic and write your opinion on that topic. It will be more difficult than the first task. You need to provide reasons why you agree or disagree. The passage must be well organized with the correct using of words and vocabularies to attract the best score. Don’t forget about the accurate grammar as well!

IELTS Speaking Test : This part is an exciting part for many test takers as you must speak to a real native speaker. This part does not only test your English speaking skill but it will also test your ability to truly express your opinion and ideas through any topics you are randomly given. You must deliver a beautiful language and a logical answer to get the points. It might be difficult for a person who rarely communicate in English or seldom use English language in daily life. But speaking can be practiced. The speaking test consists of 3 parts and it takes 11-14 minutes.

First question : General question. It may be about your personal information, your family, or other things in your everyday life.

Second question : You will be tested on the topic the examiner selects for you. You will have 2 minutes to speak and 1 minute for preparation. You need to be concentrated and carefully take your limited time.

Third question : It will be more difficult in this part. The test will be the conversation between you and your examiner in an abstract topic. It takes 4-5 minutes.

How is the difference between IELTS, TOEIC, and TOEFL?

First of all, I have to say that all of them are international standard tests. However, their test styles and purposes are different.

TOEIC : This test is used for job application and some further education such as aviation course. The test is suitable for job seekers.

IELTS (Academic) : This test is used for applying further study in foreign countries or some international programs in Thailand. (If you want to apply for a further study in the UK, you can take IELTS UKVI as you have to use it for registering a UK VISA.) It can be used for applying for scholarships and some academic jobs such as teacher, professor. Some organizations also accept this score for job application.

TOEFL : This test is used for applying further study in foreign countries or some international programs in Thailand, for applying scholarships and some academic jobs just like IELTS.

Anyone who wants to apply for international programs in Thailand or other countries can take both IELTS or TOEFL. You can also take the test and use the score for your job application in the future. Our recommendation is if you can choose between IELTS and TOEFL, choose IELTS as the test is less complicated than TOEFL.

If talking about the difficulty, TOEIC is the easiest test of all because all vocabularies found in the test are also used in your daily life. It is not an academic test and it is a multiple choice test. The reading is not too long and there is no essay writing. The challenge is the time is limited so you must quickly complete the test. IELTS and TOEFL are academic tests so vocabularies are more difficult. There are more details in each part of the test and they have essay writing and speaking.

The Difference between IELTS Academic Writing and IELTS General Writing

The Difference between IELTS Academic Writing and IELTS General Writing

A1 – Academic Task 1 : This example is a chart showing migrants in percentage in each year during 1840 – 1914. This task needs you to summarize information from the chart and make comparison. Test takers need to use their analytical thinking to compare information from the chart and explain it into at least 150 words

G1 – General Task 1 : This example needs you to write a letter generally about situations in daily life. Test takers do not need to put more details or catch the idea to logically summarize just like academic writing. Theoretically, General Writing Task 1 will be divided in to 3 lists; personal, formal, and semi-formal. This task wants you to write a letter to your friend and explain why you want to sell the car, describe the car, and suggest your friend to come and see your car. The task is quite easy and not too formal but you need to be careful about your wording and grammar.

The answer depends on your consideration but requires logical answer.

G1 – General Task 2 : This task focuses on your general writing on daily situations. This question sample is about the advantages and disadvantages of some students travelling aboard for one year before starting universities.

This task needs your explanation about space exploration whether it is a waste of money and the funds should be relocated to other more needed areas or not. The answer depends on your consideration but requires logical answer.

G1 – General Task 2 : This task focuses on your general writing on daily situations.
