เป็นกันไหม? อยากรีบประสบความสำเร็จเร็วๆ เมื่อเห็นคนรอบตัวประสบความสำเร็จนำหน้าไปก่อนเรา จนเกิดความรู้สึกแย่ ไร้ค่า เพราะคิดว่าช่วงอายุเท่านี้ ตัวเองควรมีอะไรเป็นชิ้นเป็นอันได้แล้ว
ในปัจจุบัน เราเริ่มเห็นคนอายุน้อยๆ ประสบความสำเร็จอย่างรวดเร็ว สิ่งนี้ค่อยๆ หล่อหลอมความคิดผู้คน จนทำให้บรรทัดฐานสังคมเปลี่ยนแปลงไป เราเริ่มหันมาเชิดชูคนที่ประสบความสำเร็จตั้งแต่อายุน้อยๆ และคิดว่า ‘ยิ่งประสบความสำเร็จเร็วยิ่งดี’ ค่านิยมกำหนดเส้นทางทุกช่วงอายุของเราไว้ว่า “อายุเท่านี้ต้องเรียนจบได้แล้ว” “ทำไมยังไม่ซื้อรถอีก” “จะ 30 แล้ว ยังไม่ซื้อบ้านอีกเหรอ” “รีบๆ แต่งงานเข้าล่ะ ไม่งั้นขึ้นคานแน่”
คนส่วนใหญ่ใช้ชีวิตอยู่ในกรอบที่สังคมวาดไว้ เมื่อคนรอบตัวบอกว่า ‘ดี’ เราจึงเชื่อและทำตาม แต่เราเคยลองคิดดูหรือไม่ว่า สิ่งที่พวกเขาบอกว่าดี จริงๆ แล้วมันดีสำหรับเราจริงหรือ?

ชุดความคิดที่ว่า ‘ยิ่งประสบความสำเร็จเร็วยิ่งดี’ ถูกใส่เข้ามาในหัวเรา เป็นสูตรสำเร็จที่ใครๆ คิดว่ามันจะนำพาเราไปสู่ชีวิตที่มั่นคง ทว่า ชีวิตไม่ใช่เครื่องจักรหรือคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ต้องมีแบบแผนหรือมีขั้นตอนอะไรที่ซับซ้อนเลย ชีวิตนั้นเรียบง่าย และดำเนินไปอย่างไม่รีบร้อน เราทุกคนล้วนมีเป้าหมายชีวิตที่แตกต่างกันออกไป ล้วนมีคุณค่า มีความถนัดในแบบฉบับตัวเอง และมี ‘จังหวะชีวิต’ เป็นของตัวเอง
เหนื่อยไหม? ที่ต้องวิ่งไล่ตามคนอื่นให้ทัน ลองหยุดพักแล้วค่อยๆ ดื่มด่ำกับความสวยงามข้างทางดูสิ การที่เรามุ่งไปที่เป้าหมายมากเกินไป อาจทำให้เราละเลยความสวยงามรอบตัวไป เป้าหมายก็ไปไม่ถึง แถมยังไม่มีความสุขกับการวิ่งตามเป้าหมายอีกต่างหาก
ลองกลับมาโฟกัสกับสิ่งตรงหน้าดูบ้าง ความสุขจากการได้จิบกาแฟยามเช้า แสงแดดยามบ่ายแก่ๆ ที่สาดส่องเข้ามาที่ห้องของเรา ทั้งรุนแรงและเปี่ยมไปด้วยพลังแห่งการขับเคลื่อน หรือจะเป็นลมเย็นๆ ชื่นใจที่ปะทะกับใบหน้าของเราอย่างแผ่วเบาในวันที่สิ้นหวัง ให้เวลากับความสุขเล็กๆ เหล่านี้ด้วย เพราะเราไม่ได้มีชีวิตเพื่อแข่งขันกับใคร แต่เรามีชีวิตเพื่อ ‘ใช้ชีวิต’
ไม่ว่าอย่างไรก็ตาม เราไม่อาจเปลี่ยนแปลงความจริงที่ว่า ผลไม้ที่ถูกบ่ม รสชาติย่อมไม่สามารถสู้ผลไม้ที่สุกตามธรรมชาติได้

Chia-Jung Tsay รองศาสตราจารย์จาก University College London กล่าวว่า คนที่ประสบความสำเร็จช้า อาจเผชิญกับความท้าทายเพื่อบรรลุเป้าหมายมากขึ้น สิ่งนี้ทำให้พวกเขาสามารถปรับตัวและมีความยืดหยุ่นมากขึ้น เมื่อเจอสถานการณ์ที่ยากลำบาก ความไม่แน่นอน หรือความเปลี่ยนแปลง ทั้งนี้ การที่เราจัดการกับความผิดหวังและความท้าทายในชีวิตได้ จะทำให้เรารู้สึกพอใจกับชีวิตและมีความสุขได้อีกด้วย

On all the previous dates, I traveled 100km to Colchester, Essex to see him, but this time, he visited me in London. We did many fun things together, like going to the British museum and eating at a Chinese buffet. This is only the first part, so please look forward to the second one!
