This time we’ll talk about SINCE and FROM, they both express duration or time period of an activity, following are the most important rules to use them correctly.
Rule No.1,
They are both used only before a point of time, never before a period of time.
For example, you can say “he has been living here SINCE 2007”, but not “he has been living here since 10 years”.
Rule No.2,
SINCE is used in Present Perfect or Past Perfect tense, whereas FROM may be used in any tense.
For example:
He has been ill SINCE last Friday.
You can not say “He is ill SINCE last Friday”
Rule No.3,
Since only refers to past time, FROM can refer to any time.
For example:
He will be at school FROM 10 am tomorrow.
You can not use SINCE here as it can not refer to future time.
Rule No.4,
Since expresses duration of an unfinished action, while FROM expresses the complete duration of a finished action.
He has been reading since 8:00 this norming.
He was reading from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
In the 1st example, the reading action hasn’t finished yet, while in the 2nd example, FROM is used to express the complete duration.

FOR and SINCE | English grammar class
In this English grammar class, I give you the explanation about how to use FOR and SINCE.

We use FOR to describe a period of time (duration) from the past present or future. We can use it with any verb tense.
We use SINCE with a point in time from the past. We use it mainly with the perfect tenses, in particular with the present perfect and present perfect continuous.
\”since\” gives the starting point. It defines when things began or started.
Examples of points in time are: yesterday, last week, 5 days ago, 2010 and many more.
We often use these 2 words when answering a question like \”How long have you been doing something?\”
