การควบรวมกิจการระหว่าง TRUE และ DTAC ในโมเดลบริษัทร่วมทุน JV ใกล้ได้บทสรุปชัดเจนขึ้นเรื่อยๆ เมื่อมีการเปิดเผยออกมาแล้วว่ากระบวนการต่างๆ น่าจะเสร็จสิ้นภายในไตรมาส 1/2565 นี้ พร้อมกับคำประกาศกร้าวของ ศุภชัย เจียรวนนท์ หัวเรือใหญ่จาก TRUE ที่ตั้งเป้าจะพาสองบริษัททะยานจากการเป็นแค่ ‘Dump Pipe’ หรือท่อส่งสัญญาณไปสู่การเป็นผู้นำด้านโทรคมนาคมดิจิทัลระดับภูมิภาค
กระนั้นก็ดี คนจำนวนมากยังคงกังวลในประเด็นที่ว่า การควบรวมกิจการครั้งนี้อาจจะนำไปสู่การผูกขาดหรือไม่ โดยเฉพาะการที่สังเวียนการแข่งขันมีผู้เล่นในฝั่งเอกชนลดลงจาก 3 ราย เหลือเพียง 2 ราย
